@strat2caster there's a quote from your Civil War General Sherman - I don't remember the exact words but I remember & can acurately paraphrase it : The men that call for war aLWAYS GET SOMEONE ELSE ( NAIVE YOUNG PATRIOTIC MEN) TO FIGHT IT FOR THEM ( gwb IN THE RESERVES - WAY TO "SERVE YOUR COUNTRY" ) AND IT ISN'T THE WEALTHY PEOPLE WHOSE CHILDREN ARE CANNON FODDER - AGRESSIVE , RESOURCE(OIL) ORIENTED INVASION OF SOVEREIGN NATIONS DOESN'T SIT WELL WITH ME - I'm Canadian
but i think that the sacrifice of these brave men and women deserve to be memorialized, along with the countless others who believed in their hearts that they were fighting for the freedom of their country.

I enjoyed the song, you do a good job on it. It's one of my favorite all-time TVZ classics, and I've been a fan of his for quite a few years. Too bad he died at such an early age. I won't EVEN wade into a political discussion here, but I will say that those who have died in this,or any other war deserve to be remembered and respected.Hope you like my version as well.
i love your well orchestrated version bro, i was considering adding some dobro to mine, i think i might and re-upload too...thanks for the good vibes man
GOD bless our troops! guide their bullets straight and keep them safe. I hate how a few bad apples make people think the whole military is bad. Im only 17 but just last year my friends and i had i pro-troop rally right in front of the anti-war protesters the whole town supported us so fight on keep us safe back home. GOD BLESS THE USA!!!
Thank you for the hearfelt tribute to the men and women who risk, and give, their lives to ensure that peace, independence, freedom... and to the liberals, the ability to look down their noses in a condescending way toward our soldiers. Perhaps they need to remember that if it weeren't for our courageous military, we would either be a part of the British empire or we, along with a great part of the world, would be unwilling prisoners held by Hitler's Third Reich.
What a dumbass thing to say. Plenty of us liberals have been in the military. How is your run of neoconservative horsecrap doing? Oh right, you've about ruined this country-oh and torture and secret trials and corruption all through the gooper establishment those are all great American values. What part of protecting US is going on in Iraq? None. Stupid war by a criminal president with only dumbasses left to support it. Your old attack crap doesn't work anymore, so just quit.
You are right in one area; I should have written "..and to those liberals..." as many of us hold views far more complex than the "party line."
By the way, regarding the military, I was referring to the men and women who serve our country. I was not referring to the country's politics. I try to stay out of those discussions, as someone ends up ticked off, as did you. My apologies for any insult, to you or others, however unintended.
obviously your comment was intended to be antagonizing. i know plenty of "conservatives" who seemingly couldn't care less about the people who actually die in iraq. supporting the troops takes more than sticking a magnet on your SUV. polarizing comments like yours distract from the real problem: we have a war going on that the majority of the american public (liberal, moderate and conservative) is apathetic to. its a travesty that americans are dying for a cause few seem to care about.
Please dont try to "second guess" my political stance. This is about our military men & women.
As to the post below, you may kill to keep your buddy alive, even though you do not support killing. Please try to keep in mind all of our enlisted men & women, now & before, are not necesarily blood-thirsty killers.
Also, those that make the decision to kill are not necessarily the soldiers. who support death & dismemberment.
My point was we should be focusing on supporting the troops in words and actions (funding health benefits, opportunities for them when they return, etc...) Divisive comments like yours just alienate people and create needless hostility.
I fear when this war is over the rest of the country is going to turn its back despite the sacrifices.
And there wasn't exactly any "second guess(ing)" you explicitly attacked "liberals" suggesting you view the world through a liberal/conservative dichotomy.
The rest of the country has already turned its back. And those opportunities you talk about are already in play. Its just getting the governments grubby hands to let us have a few thats the problem.
OH YOU DISAGREE WITH ME YOU'RE A "LITTLE IDIOT"...NICE LOGIC
Let me point out your stupidity:
1) this isn't really a matter of geopolitics (only sort of) --- go look up the definition. It's not like divisive is really a big word, besides at least I used it correctly.
2) you might want to look up the definition of history while you are at it. take a look what happened to many of the veterans after vietnam. they didn't exactly meld back into society seamlessly, did they? yes there was a draft
you have to at least be intelligent enough to acknowledge that much of the general public is apathetic to what happens to veterans when they return.
3) if you don't think that there is a huge amount of criticism of veterans health benefits --- think again. do you actually know any veterans? the VA system has improved, that doesn't mean it can't be further improved.
4)if you exclude higher ranking officers, veteran's incomes lag that of the general population if you break down by racial group
A veterans income more than lags. Infact enlisted military qualify for food stamps and things of that sort. Yet I still did my time. Although most of the public is a"pathetic. Our gov. is not and the VA system has yet to improve at least thats what ive noticed while trying to get my half assed benefits. Its been over a year and I havent even recieved a phone call to tell me how things are going on my claim.
HAng tight. It took two years before I heard back, but then I was back paid for the two years since getting wounded. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. But it is a long journey. How are you feeling?
Every day sucks. Im ornery as hell and meaner than a rattlesnake. I cant take my meds cuz it only makes the nightmares worse. I can barely get out of bed cuz of back and knee pain, and im only 23. I just try to remember I was born naked and hungry. So everyday I wake up and got something to eat and have clothes on my back is good enough for me.
Veteran's benefits aren't bad, certainly things are not perfect. From a more philosophical standpoint I find the treatment of vets by the general public ranges from great respect to hostility. Plenty of apathy.rosenbej may not be completely on the mark but at least he seems to care.
That aside, if you(drperi1) meant your last post to be ironic--you are a genius. Otherwise, maybe you should be tested for a learning disability.
You're a long ways from "normal" Steve when it comes to logic. All I have to say is just wait to see what happens if a liberal is President. Hope you don't care about money, your health, or being some religious radicals bitch. It's way bigger than your little stupid war comment. Think roadside bombs in our cites and GOD forbid, the Big One! I guess Bush would be a criminal President if our cities were being bombed and he didn't "protect us" from that!
One thing I have noticed about Liberals, their hindsight is always 20/20 or better!!!!!!!! Think about the freedom you enjoy and SHUT UP!!!!! Shallow people like you PISS ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for this tribute, and to all the liberals out there. If you can read this thank a teacher, if you can read this is English, thank a vet.
Wow! Thanks so much for making this video. Americans need to remember we are at war and there are innoccent people being affected. Sometimes I truly believe the mindset in America is out of site out of mind. America-we need to promote peace with a strong military-not war. There are 18 states left to vote-please cast your vote for peace-vote for Ron Paul. He is the only candidate who truly cares about our military & veterans. Ron Paul believes in liberty for ALL-that is what made America great!
thank you! too bad the actual straight-talkers voices will be drowned out by the opportunists and panderers, who stand to profit from the deaths of these real Americans
@goldenrule22, thanks for your great comment about the cause of ignorance. out of sight or under the carpet, or behind closed doors and smoke and mirrors. it is time the light of truth shines bright in every home throughout the great lands that make up america!
thanks again Mike for your wonderful music. I especially like this great tribute you put out there! best always to you and your family,
Strat2caster, thanks a million for this great tribute to the men and women who gave all to allow the freedom we live everyday. Your a great American!! HOORAH!!!
Man I have one in the US Navy and weather you agree or disagree with this war these kids are serving this nation which is us. My daughter is in the middle east now I can't believe how much they give. salute to them and to you mike well done. Gary
well put Gary, the good people that put their butts on the line everyday are in a class by themselves and represent our new "greatest generation" God bless your daughter and all the folks serving our country.
Ok..Now I'm crying but I never realised how far I'm removed from realty. The women lost struck me so deep and hard. All those beautiful faces of the men and woman lost to time now. All my prayers to the families
that was the desired effect. i saw these photos online and it made it personal for me.the women struck me hard too.thanks for the thoughtful comment ;o)
I've always looked up to you as an older brother whose been there with the 500,000 and have seen and lived the era and learned the lessons first hand, so whatever you think that's cool and what it'll be :^)
thanks Elen, i loved your Santa Baby vid . hey i understand your tardiness with 4000+ subs, dont know how you do it ;o) thanks for stopping by and have a great new year my friend
5 from me, very good, very sad tribute. they are all soooo YOUNG!!!!!!! They're like my age!!! :( RIP guys and grrrls! and thank you for your ultimate sacrifices!
i live in new mexico actually but will be travelling a lot in spring and summer and will try and swing on down. i'd already been planning an epic roadtrip and will try and fit florida in!
Well done my friend!! A sobering reminder that, no matter how we feel about war, these young lives need every bit of our support (financial and moral) while they are over there!
god bless the USA. i just wonder why the terrorists hate us.... maybe our govt isnt the best, but why hate the people?

Go sign up then speak.
Until you & the rest of these morons learn geo-poitics from more than sound bytes you have no background from which to speak.
DON'T COMMENT TO ME. IT WILL NOT BE READ.
DIVISIVE?? BIG WORD HERE. LEARN YOUR HISTORY, DIP.
drperi1 3 years ago
OH YOU DISAGREE WITH ME YOU'RE A "LITTLE IDIOT"...NICE LOGIC
Let me point out your stupidity:
1) this isn't really a matter of geopolitics (only sort of) --- go look up the definition. It's not like divisive is really a big word, besides at least I used it correctly.
2) you might want to look up the definition of history while you are at it. take a look what happened to many of the veterans after vietnam. they didn't exactly meld back into society seamlessly, did they? yes there was a draft
rosenbej 3 years ago
you have to at least be intelligent enough to acknowledge that much of the general public is apathetic to what happens to veterans when they return.
3) if you don't think that there is a huge amount of criticism of veterans health benefits --- think again. do you actually know any veterans? the VA system has improved, that doesn't mean it can't be further improved.
4)if you exclude higher ranking officers, veteran's incomes lag that of the general population if you break down by racial group
rosenbej 3 years ago 2
A veterans income more than lags. Infact enlisted military qualify for food stamps and things of that sort. Yet I still did my time. Although most of the public is a"pathetic. Our gov. is not and the VA system has yet to improve at least thats what ive noticed while trying to get my half assed benefits. Its been over a year and I havent even recieved a phone call to tell me how things are going on my claim.

HAng tight. It took two years before I heard back, but then I was back paid for the two years since getting wounded. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. But it is a long journey. How are you feeling?
MinnowBelcher 3 years ago
Every day sucks. Im ornery as hell and meaner than a rattlesnake. I cant take my meds cuz it only makes the nightmares worse. I can barely get out of bed cuz of back and knee pain, and im only 23. I just try to remember I was born naked and hungry. So everyday I wake up and got something to eat and have clothes on my back is good enough for me.
usmcpitboy 3 years ago
Veteran's benefits aren't bad, certainly things are not perfect. From a more philosophical standpoint I find the treatment of vets by the general public ranges from great respect to hostility. Plenty of apathy.rosenbej may not be completely on the mark but at least he seems to care.
That aside, if you(drperi1) meant your last post to be ironic--you are a genius. Otherwise, maybe you should be tested for a learning disability.
Also, FYI:
Iraq war - Geopolitics
Veterans benefits - Not Geopolitics

I look condescending towards anyone who believes it acceptable to kill others.

Ron Paul believes in liberty for ALL-that is what made America great!
goldenrule22 4 years ago
thank you! too bad the actual straight-talkers voices will be drowned out by the opportunists and panderers, who stand to profit from the deaths of these real Americans
strat2caster 4 years ago
@goldenrule22, thanks for your great comment about the cause of ignorance. out of sight or under the carpet, or behind closed doors and smoke and mirrors. it is time the light of truth shines bright in every home throughout the great lands that make up america!
thanks again Mike for your wonderful music. I especially like this great tribute you put out there! best always to you and your family,

Too bad sad songs like this must be written and sang. There are wars that are essential to be fought and won but the one in Iraq is not one of them.
