gravel should be praised for his down to earth policies and given more media airtime but the establishment are running scared of the people getting a voice in the way our country is run
@dodgingasteroids - I totally agree. The way the media portrays the primary elections is despicable. All they care about is ratings and not truth. Nor what is best for the country.
I appreciate this video, and much of what you've said is true. But Obama has addressed all of these issues and funding Iraq for the troops who are there is what should be done.
Obama has not addressed this. Funding for more war is NOT what should be done at all. It is perpetuating an occupation. The Iraqis don't want us there. We don't want our soldiers there either. It is also going to bankrupt this country. The money being spent could be far better used rebuilding our infrastructure here: education, health care, bridges and roads, renewable green energy sources... NO MORE WAR!
Obama has addressed every single issue you've mentioned. And the ones stated by Gravel. Look it up. Watch the debates. Read the news. His stances are not hard to find. The issues that you've mentioned are at the HEART of his campaign.
And I'm not going to get into any lengthy debates w/ you about Iraq. But, again, I encourage you to do more research, as well as use some common sense.
First, I did watch the debates and I hear rhetoric and not specific actions like I hear from Gravel. Read the news? The biased mainstream news that marginalizes the ones with the most integrity? Yeah, I have read it. I do not agree with what he says. I don't agree with his stance on the issues. Common sense? I think common sense is not allowing the media to choose my candidate for me. I have done a quite a bit of research and I believe I have made the best choice. Gravel has a proven record.
Things I don't like about Obama's stance on issues:
1) likes Nuclear Energy
2) wants to keep armed forces in Iraq (with troop redeployment).
3) health care plan subsidizes insurance co's.
4) thinks it's ok for us to bomb sovereign nations with whom we are not at war to aim for "terrorists". see Pakistan. By this logic, Castro could have bombed Miami for harboring a terrorist - Luis Posada Carriles.
6) He is supported by lobbyists as much as Clinton.
7) He will continue the war on drugs.
8) He did not vote on the most recent senate fisa bill containing retroactive immunity for companies who illegally spied on Americans without a warrant.
9) He consistently votes to fund the war (or should I say occupation).
10) He often votes "present" rather than taking a position on a bill either way.
I'm no lover of Obama, but nuclear energy is environmentally friendly and cheap. It works well for France. Also, we need to get Gravel's message out to more people.
I don't think nuclear energy is environmentally friendly at all. What does France do with their nuclear waste? Why not focus on energy sources that are cleaner and don't produce such waste like solar, wind, geothermal? In Gravel's book he mentions possibilities of space-based solar energy? That sounds pretty interesting. Not to mention that nuclear energy requires subsidization from the govt. It can't make itself profitable. That doesn't equal sustainable to me.
Nuclear energy is in no way cheap, or safe. In spite of what some so called "experts" might say in the media. There is no safe way to dispose of nuclear waste. Also, solar, wind, and hydroelectric power each produce far more energy than nuclear power. That's a proven fact.
Where is Obama going to get the money? Is he going to get the Federal Reserve to print more? Whats he going to do once the economy collapses due to the massive amount of inflation caused by the printing of money being used to fund the war in Iraq? Hell, technically we aren't at war. So why are we still over there, what good deed does it fullfill? Freedom for Iraqis? Psh, if this is the case, then which country is next on the list? North Korea? Iran? China? Russia?
The Federal Reserve will quickly print up more, they can charge for the loan. Look it up, they are a PRIVATE BANK that charges intrest on every dollar they print up and own the national treasure (Gold) since 1917. We can't invade China as they own this country. And besides, who do you think is loaning us the money to pay for Iraq? The same dollar you spend at the store to poison yourself is going to China which in return is used to pay the U.S, to allow them to poison us. New World Order...
There is absolutely no comparison between McCain and Gravel. Gravel has ideas to move this country in the right direction. McCain is Bush 3.0. More of the same...
The rich manipulate the voters through values, (abortion, gay issues) including religion. The people are fooled again and again. When you stop to think about these manipulations, it's all about manipulating some people in the minority to try to keep other people, the majority, (women, gays, minorities) from having power. Robbing other people of power robs YOU! Freeing other people frees you. Allowing other people to have power empowers us all. If you ain't rich, vote for Gravel. Do something.
Other candidates want the presidency mainly for the goal of personal ambition. Gravel is obviously one of the only ones who is deeply concerned for American people, not himself.
If there's someway to breakthrough the corporate censorship, people will be able see what a great man Sen. Gravel is. There's still a ways to go. Gravel 2008.
This is a really good video. I like the message very much. From a visual standpoint, the only thing different I would do is make the background become gradually white (light) toward the end as Mr. Gravel is talking about people coming out of the shadows and then pop in people's images next to and behind Mr. Gravel and then end it. But pay no attention to me, I still don't know how to make films...maybe someday?
mlps93: Looking at your profile says all we need to know about you. You're a Hillary supporter who hates to read. If you paid attention, you would know that Mike is the best candidate...
Senator Gravel, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Federal Reserve System in this country. Anyway, keep speaking truth! P.S. Just occured to me that you were often called "angry," and yet you were the only one who dared discuss the need for love (in the context of foreign policy) in the debates. I thought that was great!
change will never truly happen if we don't change the system we live by/in. So long as we are still electing one person to represent us we are never changing...we are simply too afraid to represent ourself. Change is scary...true change means being responsible.
Gravel,Paul or Kucinich, would all made good presidents.Americans, are voting system has been hijacked. The fed, res.,and the cfr now controll whos to be elected. And,god help us all,it will be clinton.Next, the north american union(no more usa). Please, prove me wrong,I want to be wrong. But i do not think so.
It's funny how people are noticing Gravel just now. It's still possible for him to win as an independent. Vote with your heart and your brain. Let your vote represent what you believe in, not your fear of McCain winning.
Thank you Mr. Gravel, I keep telling people you're still in this fight. I think if Barrack looses, they will come over to you.
It just soo ridiculous, I try to tell people the facts, but they ignore the facts like some brain washed zombie. Sorry Mr. Gravel, it seems America is land of the Zombies. I tell people you are the best Democrat left, and it hurts that Americans will support people who don't represent their views.
Mr Gravel if you lied all the time like the other Candidates (Clinton and Obama), do you think maybe then they would support you?
It's mind boggling that Obama supporters don't listen to what he says or his voting record. Same thing with Clinton. If the people are against the war and against the unconstitutional laws then they should vote for someone like you who has been against those bills and support someone who represented us, someone like you. People should research. Thanx Mr Gravel +5
That was pretty remarkable. I thought this guy was broke! He's not my favorite, but at least he's no puppet. Gravel in '08? Nah. But at least listen to him.

If you think Obama's the answer, you need to give yourself a reality check:
The Obama Craze (Matt Gonzalez)
counterpunch. com/gonzalez02292008.html
You're not going to get a glitzy presentation of the truth here. If you want nice sounding lies with an expensive presentation financed by Wall Street, Obama's your guy!
Quote jlassie "Most people have still never even heard of you."
That's because CNN (and the rest) told us ARBITRARILY that no one but Barak, Hillary, and for a while Edwards, had a chance.
About two months before the primaries started, there was a debate, afterwards the reporter said, "Too bad Bill Richardson and Mike Gravel didn't sound this good before. It's too late for them to really have a chance now." IT WAS WAY BEFORE THE PRIMARIES! How could that be too late?

If America let's Mccain, Clinton, or Obama in, we are screwed. Dr. Paul and Mr. Gravel are the only real choices anymore. The rest are just pandering to Americans, claiming they want change. Not true.
The one constant in life is change. It's such a STUPID slogan. The other thing someone said to me is he is saying "We". Can you believe it? Former Kucinich supporter supporting Obama now. I do, I think it's magic powder or something like willing suspension of disbelief. It's like a trance. An entrainment, a hypnotic spell. Does not coffee provide a better buzz than just chanting: "Yes, we can." or "Obama". See Jane run. Hear Spot bark.
I just wish the press would pick up on this man and start covering his view of this mess. God save America
I don't care who become the next prez because they will be the most hated prez every. Mark my words. None of them can deal with this mess but they will just blame bush and thats no help to US. I'm talking of the media'top 3.
Gravel videogrpahers, can you give me some advice on a good edting/effects tool for making nice videos like this. imovie? (I don't have a mac). Something simple, but effective. I like your work.
Thanks, I have premier pro, I'm not a big fan. Or maybe I just need a tutorial. I'll take a look at sony vegas. ThanksWho knew Mike Gravel had the time to answer multimedia questions? I'll phone Hillary about my dodgy net connection.
Here's the ghetto version for someone with a tight budget and antiquated machinery:
Windows Movie Maker, AVS Video Editor, and Photoshop CS2
I have seen people do nice things with Vegas, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects, but it does costs something. (I believe Vegas is a good midrange price choice.) I'm not even sure my computer could handle these programs; it's about 6 years old. WMM really stretches its limits.
I don't need to ask politicians anything. They are the cause by not being the solution.Cant vote for it either, the elections are rigged. Cant get it from government.
I've seen a lot of info about how electronic votes can be hacked, and then of course there's the classic, "don't let the other candidate's voters get to the polls" plan (remember the votors in black neighborhoods in Florida in 2000?) I've voted 3rd party before, but only people who actually take the time to care and be informed know anything not broadcast on CNN or Fox. I'm kinda new to all this, but isn't that the group reffered to as "sheeple" - they just follow what their told?
Cynthia McKinney for the Greens might suit you. We know a third party won't win this time around, they know that, but the whole idea is to build up a viable third party, that is the end product that we are looking for.
OK. Let me be the first to ask the naive question: How do we know that a third party won't win this time? The Democrats and Republicans have been hemorrhaging members for decades and especially during the last 4-5 elections. The two parties only really care about the captive devotees who are already voters who are locked into their game. What about the 40 to 60% who are without a party?
I'm kinda loosing hope that we can make a difference.... I don't know who I'm voting for yet, but I wish the media didn't edit our choices for us! Why is Gravel completly left out of any news coverage?
How DARE you, mde. I've donated $35, and despite my disappointment over how things are going, I wouldn't accept my donation back if it was shoved in my hand! When you make a donation, you're not paying someone to win, you're helping them in their effort. Don't even pretend to expect it back! I've never heard anything so rude, and I've heard a lot of rude things!
Mike already earned the money I sent him several times over. It's the other way around. I'd send him the maximum amount if I could, but I'm not even to a fifth of that yet 'cause I'm poor out of graduate school.
Your attitude is what is wrong with America today. You want something for nothing. You want someone else to do your revolution for you. Shelling out a few bucks for Citizen Power is probably too much of an inconvenience for you.
Remember, politcs will always be politics. People with good intentions can rarely make it.

Gravel's the only man now in the race who speaks the hard truth. He's not some party-liner like Obama or Hilary. He knows when to question his party.

america will continue to suck until it falls. just forget it.

Obama gets so repetitive, he sounds like a Pokemon character to me. Maybe that's why the kids like him so much. :/

I work for Mike Gravel. I also believe that sarcasm is King.

Obamachu is scary, especially when he displays his "put all options on the table" power and transforms into O-bomb-ya. Hillafu can't even top that.

Gravel videogrpahers, can you give me some advice on a good edting/effects tool for making nice videos like this. imovie? (I don't have a mac). Something simple, but effective. I like your work.
johnlepo 3 years ago
I use Final Cut Pro, this was made with Adobe Premiere, I think.
iMovie is good software, but if you've got a PC, you can't use it. Sony Vegas is pretty neat also.
gravel2008 3 years ago
Thanks, I have premier pro, I'm not a big fan. Or maybe I just need a tutorial. I'll take a look at sony vegas. ThanksWho knew Mike Gravel had the time to answer multimedia questions? I'll phone Hillary about my dodgy net connection.
johnlepo 3 years ago
With all do respect to Mike Gravel but the one who answered you was a paid staffer for the Gravel campaign.

I know friend, I was joking!
johnlepo 3 years ago
Skyler and rx2008 are pros.
ChannelMikeG 3 years ago 2
For 'ghetto' software, your videos are pretty dang good.
They rival the stuff I make! Nobody beats rx2008, because he's a master at his software, but you come pretty close.
PoliticalAnalysis 3 years ago 2
Wow, thank you. That means a lot coming from you.
rx2008 is the drunken master of video editing.

I don't need to ask politicians anything. They are the cause by not being the solution.Cant vote for it either, the elections are rigged. Cant get it from government.

What do you mean by rigged? Rigged as in the media only covers certain politicans and only allows certain ones to debate?

I've seen a lot of info about how electronic votes can be hacked, and then of course there's the classic, "don't let the other candidate's voters get to the polls" plan (remember the votors in black neighborhoods in Florida in 2000?) I've voted 3rd party before, but only people who actually take the time to care and be informed know anything not broadcast on CNN or Fox. I'm kinda new to all this, but isn't that the group reffered to as "sheeple" - they just follow what their told?
gehmflor 3 years ago
Cynthia McKinney for the Greens might suit you. We know a third party won't win this time around, they know that, but the whole idea is to build up a viable third party, that is the end product that we are looking for.
johnlepo 3 years ago
OK. Let me be the first to ask the naive question: How do we know that a third party won't win this time? The Democrats and Republicans have been hemorrhaging members for decades and especially during the last 4-5 elections. The two parties only really care about the captive devotees who are already voters who are locked into their game. What about the 40 to 60% who are without a party?
gravelin08 3 years ago
Yeah, these arrogant crooks need to be taken down a peg...or two...or three. Super third party on the horizon!

Will your greenback to someone like Obama matter with all his bundlers and Wall Street money?
What a miserable defeatist attitude you've got. Back to the status quo with you, huh?

Mike already earned the money I sent him several times over. It's the other way around. I'd send him the maximum amount if I could, but I'm not even to a fifth of that yet 'cause I'm poor out of graduate school.
Your attitude is what is wrong with America today. You want something for nothing. You want someone else to do your revolution for you. Shelling out a few bucks for Citizen Power is probably too much of an inconvenience for you.
