i love it, 0 problems with 400+hp and almost 40k miles on it tuned... if you have stock or smaller aftermarket injectors you won't experience any problems
video was taken on a piece of crap cell phone over a year ago, sounds a lot different in person... honestly though... the lope is getting a little annoying now that its been there for awhile... i'm trying to sell this truck to get a 12v anyway, these 7.3s are just too expensive to meet my future goals
the loping is from too much fuel at idle, i have larger then stock injectors and this tune is a race-only tune so the manners aren't really tuned into it... its possible to tune out the lope but i personally enjoy the sound of it and don't mind it
yup, it smooths out after anywhere from 20 seconds (if its warm) to 2-3 minutes (if its cold) in neutral... but when its in drive it smooths out instantly
the loping on my truck is cause of the tune, nothing to do with the cam, on a gas engine you can get a huge lope by putting in an aftermarket cam, on a diesel it works based on fuel, not air
sorry azkcr i accidently deleted your comment when i meant to reply... tony is the same way, him and jody from dp tuner have basically the EXACT same programming... it comes down to basically which way you like changing tunes.. digitally or with an old fashioned knob.. i like the knob haha
lol! agreed.. i was going to use tony but it was moderately hard to talk to someone as a 20yr old because no one takes me seriously... i know more than most mechanics! (dad and i started mechanics and engineering school at the age of 16..) LOL.... so i guess bigger injectors would make it lope?! i have to ask my freakin prof tomorrow bout this, cause in 3.5 yrs of school i havent heard of it... :S
i just turned 18 a couple months ago and been working on this truck since i was 16, been working on engines in general for a LONG TIME so i know what you mean... but yes it's something like the bigger injectors since they require more ICP they lope at idle, my truck settles down after anywhere from 20 seconds to 5 minutes depending on how long it's been sitting and the weather, look at every single pulling truck, cummins, duramax, psd, whatever, they all lope A LOT
get an SCT for your 6.0, it will make a world of difference and probably run smoother as well, and the loping happens on very highly fueled cummins too, might have something to do with timing?
no i know why it does it, if i watch my HPOP gauge it sits about 850-900 when it's loping but once it settles down it's about 700, i guess just too agressive of a tune so it lopes... i love it
no, edge isn't anywhere near what a custom chip will do... i have a tony wildman custom 6 position chip, nothing else (except Dptuners) can get the same power from my bigger injectors, the beeping is my radar detector
r u asking y it does that? i was thinking it might do that because maybe some of your fuel doesnt get burned u know what im sayin? does it do it on lower settings? does it do it when u floor it?
howd you like the tony wildman chip cause i wanna get one but dont wanna fuck my truck up

i'm getting bigger injectors sometime.. so we'll see what happens

it depends how big you go for your injectors

DP tuner is the shit!!

i have tony wildman tuning
glasseater90 3 years ago
i have DP tuning on my 6.0..... can u explain what happens EXACTLY when an engine lopes though.. i know it has to do with the injector pressure

its an SCT with DP tuning.. 0_o and i wanted and explaination of loping..

all engines with too much fuel lope, i believe it has to do with the timing at idle
glasseater90 3 years ago
not too good for the engine i imagine? i'm a diesel fanatic and know my way around..... but this is some of the first i've heard of loping
azkcr 3 years ago
it's perfectly fine for the engine, does no damage at all and it's VERY common on any fuel-related modified diesel
