The shushing is nothing new, my grandmother used to shush me to go back to sleep so the fact he's coming up with something that parent's in the UK already do is a farce
It's because it simulates the sound of mummy's blood whooshing through her body when baby was inside....and ALSO (BTW I have had 5 of the last 26 years...lol!) baby is too "loose" hmmm, like he/she needs to be bundled a little tighter...they're not used to limbs being able to flail all over the place...Babies feel insecure when they're too "free" hence the swaddling method used for the last 5000 years or so....
