Awesome player, person and I really him as an analyst/announcer now. Beyond terrible how his career ended, but he landed on his feet and is doing great because he's a winner. I'm a die hard Clemson fan, but your allegences mean nothing when an athlete gets hurt. Especially a class act and human being such as David Pollack
After the game, Pollack saved a baby from a burning house, cured two lepers and turned water into wine. There was nothing this guy couldn't do. Go Dawgs.
Love it. He could have easily sacked him and got the safety. He instead goes for the ball, smart play. Pollack is one of my favorite dawgs alltime. He gave it 100% every play. He played football how its supposed to be played and thats with all you got on every down.
This is always a crazy game. Both teams looked good this past Saturday. We'll find out how good we are this Saturday on the road against a good Gamecocks team. Here's to a good game.
now hes workin for css tv....he was on the program show called sec gridiron live....now hes on another program show.....wont be long before he lands a spot on ESPN.....did he leave gridiron or was he fired?
Without a doubt. There's no question without that neck injury he could have been dominant at either DE or LB. He was the best defensive end I ever saw, period, in college. He was that good.
Your right, and he was really starting to come on really good with that team. I'm a South Carolina fan, but I had a lot of respect for David and actually became a huge fan of his when he wasn't playing us. Wish he was still playing.
LOL he went to my high school haha the only time "Highly Talented" and "Shiloh High School from Snellville, GA" have been used in the same sentence hahahahaha
My school lasiter high undifeated, on the news, the best play in high school history.Look it up,one kid,i think he was catching or passing, he tiped it to another player, scored a touchdown.
I miss him so damn much David was the player that got me interested in football i even went out and bought a 47 jersey because of him and i hope that some of you are right and he gets some type of coaching job around athens
I REALLY hope he gets into coaching at UGA but he also got $7 million guaranteed during his NFL stint so if he's managed it at all, he'll never have to work another day in his life. The only question is if he really misses being around football. My guess would be he misses it like crazy.
damn that pollack. he abused our o-line that whole game and we never figured out how to stop him. But it made me feel better to see no other team could stop him either.
You're right, he was one of the best. I'm sad that he had to retire, but it was the right decision. He is my biggest role model, I wear nimber 47 because of him.
Poll-ack was one of the best defensive linemen I've ever had the privledge to watch. It's sad that he has to retire, but it's the smart thing to do. Maybe we can get him coaching down here in Athens in some capacity.
No argument there. Richt gives her a look and in his tone as if to say "You're supposed to be a professional sideline commentator and you cannot even pronounce the name of the star of the game???" Sideline eye candy is one thing but flat out stupidity is just annoying. This was the best defensive play I've ever seen. Pollack was one of a kind. I'd love to see him get on the defensive staff at UGA. No one has played with that intensity sense he left.
Him leaving football is a sad day. I have loved him since his college days. I guess its a good thing that he does this now because you never know the next play that he would do could have been his last.
His retiring really breaks my heart. He was a class act and great college football player. After he broke his neck I thought for sure he would come back. He would've had a great career as an OLB and was one of the few high quality guys to play on the Bengals.
The thing that ticked me off is that if the Bengals wanted an outside linebacker, they should have drafted one. I have to believe that if Pollack had been drafted by a 4-3 team, he would have remained a DE, been able to stay around 270-275 and been better suited to play in the NFL. Having him drop 20 pounds and play a different position (for the most part) was just stupid. I think if he'd gone to a 4-3 team that he'd still be playing but we'll obviously never know.

Not only a great athlete but David was also a class act off the field too. Could have been a Ray Lewis type of LB if it wasn't for the injury.
