wasnt that Dario Franchitti and isnt he racing nascar now? Yeah i believe he is and he sucks just like all the other F1 drivers that are coming to nascar YOUR NOT WELCOME IN NASCAR
Uh, Mr. Xenophobic, Dario has no experience in F1. Same with Patrick Carpentier, Marcos Ambrose, Sam Hornish, Michael McDowell, and most the other road racers coming to NASCAR.
The only three drivers with F1 experience that are coming to NASCAR (or are in NASCAR) are Juan Pablo Montoya, Jacques Villeneuve, and Max Papis (whose F1 career is forgettable anyway, so maybe he doesn't count)
Welcome to the 21st century, and please, for god's sakes, get your facts straight.
@braddaboss1 If you looked a little further back, you'd see that I was actually responding to someone else. I'm more than aware that this is IndyCar, but the guy I was responding to was referring to all sorts of "F1 drivers" such as Dario Franchitti coming to NASCAR.
I was there watching... 7 cars out of the race like that, one of which sadly I had money riding on (Dan Wheldon) I find it amazing that they found tire treads on Scott Dixon's helmet, along his visor and the top.
tazi69, go suck a knob. I'm not saying indy is better than F1, but it is still pretty awesome. You should have seen the laps leading up to the race, 10 cars competing for the lead
Relax, where he's from the cars race one at a time, through the woods. This clip is a far cry from rally racing. IRL is much more civilized for the spectator. Yeah once in awhile a tire makes it over the fence, but people aren't used as fodder to slow the car down on a curve. ;-)
We watch rally racing cuz we love seeing crashes....expecially into the trees.....and when those spectators start flying? Well, that is what racing is all about.
Reminded me of Tony Stewart' crash in the 2001 Daytona 500 - when these cars get airborne it's amazing they can walk away unhurt. And after Stewart's wild ride, the Dale Earnhardt crash looked so innocent it was surprising he was killed.
hahahahaha dumbasses wit dem caviors niggas thinkin they can do dem drivebys wityh dem indy negro cars on an nagga track nigga plz. peace to dem white holmes
If you want to watch a freight train hooked up, watch the taxi cabs.
If you want to watch a race where the winner was determined during time trials or a race with no room for passing, watch F-1, CART or most road course races.
If you want to see extreme racing with real excitement, real talent, real teams, watch the IRL on the ovals. Hang on to your shorts!
Oh, and by the way, Gene Simmons is in this corner!
Aero to allow cars to run close to each other through corners, and be able to perform the whole race battles of F1 in the 80s and early 90s.. The basis of this is a front wing that expands in the heat of another car, therefore creating more downforce and better grip on the road, so that the heat of another car does not make following impossible. Watch GP2 to see my point (they manage that by not having aero appendages on the tub, but it really is the best race series (imo, don't shoot me).
Please tell me where to see the GP2 you mentioned above. Don't worry, nobody will shoot you. Many times I feel people don't like the IRL because they don't understand so much about it. I'm trying to learn more about the other series so that I am not overlooking interesting items simply because I don't understand it. Obviously you do understand the F1 & GP2
Yeah, nice way of explaining it. I like IRL, I just don't catch much of it. GP2 in Britain is on Speed, Eurosport and ITV4. In the Us, I'm sure speed would have some coverage. Search for GP2 on fire, you might enjoy it..
I like IndyCar, and I think that road course races ATM are slightly better than F1, but I think the teams and drivers in F1 are real enough, and I don't think that oval racing is AS interesting (it's still dead cool). Oh yeah, + no TC for F1 from next year. So slightly more twitching and sliding..
Obviously I like IndyCar on the ovals the most but I also enjoy the IRL and F1 on the road courses. I find it difficult to watch the road courses in person, I'd rather watch them on the tube, to be able to see more of the race. Now the ovals are much different for me, nothing beats in person. You learn to know the personalities of the drivers & teams & try to predict what's coming. (see additional response)
Sorry to keep posting, but earch for GP2 on fire, and chack out the two lap long battle between Lewis Hamilton (red and white car) and Timo Glock (blue and red car) from 1:30 something to 3:something.. You'll thank me later.
It's a real rush when the cars get so close realizing that if they touch, it's a disaster! I agree the F1 teams are higher tech, I beleive it's related to the much higher financial backing. The no TC issue will make a big difference, with the power available to the F1 cars, there will be a whole lot of twitching and sliding! (see next comment)
In the IRL where there is no TC, the only driver I know who can power slide a car through turn 2 at Indy at over 200 mph is Sam Hornish, Jr. It's amazing to watch this happen. In my 26 years at Indy, I have not seen anyone else accomplish this! I'm heading for "GP2 on fire" now.
"GP2 on Fire" is an awesome display of racing. The track at Turkey is obviously wider and faster than most F1 or IRL road courses. That's the type of racing I like to see. The drivers obviously respect each others abilities. The sensation of OMG don't touch or all hell will break loose obviously catches a race fan here. A difference I see between the ovals and the road courses is that for the fans the ovals keeps the competition in eyeshot. (see additional response)
A similarity is the braking into corners on the flatter tracks. The high bank tracks are still nearly flat out speed and brass b#%ls! You obviously know alot about racing and I enjoy the conversation. Thanks.
those turbine cars always have bad luck remember the famous stp turbine of 66 driven by eddie sax?

Er, not all Brits are rally-maniacs. I don't even like rallying. He's just bitter cos he probably has never actually watched an IRL race.

Well I've forgotten who you were arguing with, and can't be bothered to find out again. All this proves is that us Brits are jumpy and innacurate.

If you want to watch good road course racing, watch GP2.
If you want Formula One to be in any way exciting, wait till 2009.
If you think that ovetaking on an oval is proper overtaking, then watch IRL.
ALCUS52 4 years ago
I'm curious and want to be open minded - what changes are coming for F1 in 2009. Maybe these changes would help the IRL road course races as well.
