Made it t number 3 in 1974 on The Billboard Pop Carts. As for THE STING it wasn't bad, but wasn't as great as BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. Paul, Robert, Can't win them all.
Billboard's #48 song for '74. Anybody know the actual words. Milton Berle actually recited 'em on 'the Muppet show'. Marvin hit #1 AC. #3 pop in Billboard. God bless!
I remember this like it was yesterday. Back then if a song was good it would always get played on the radio no matter what, no matter what style it was in. Today it would be impossible because of the current corporate music holocaust that has been going on for the past 25 years, ever since the advent of MTV (Empty-V).
The only thing that song didn't have was some cowbell.

This recording went to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1974, and earned Marvin Hamlisch the grammy for Best New Artist of that year.

Scott Joplin wrote this between 1900 and 1903 so I'm guessing him...?
