Thank you for posting this. It is a little fast, but after watching a couple of times, I was able to see what I needed to see. I knit continental and thrown method and after 10 years purling continental still find it tricky to manage tension. Seeing how closely you hold the thread to the needle and pull down on the purl stitch is helpful.. Thank you so much! It's definitely helpful to see good technical skills.
I just wish the focus was a wee bit better once you got into your stitching. May I ask what type of needle you're working with? It looks almost like it's got a bit of give to it, but that might have been the camera angle. Wood, plastic, colored metal?
Thanks for sharing. I like to check out youtube videos of people knitting just to compare with how i do it, and this was very helpful, thanks. Sorry that some people gave you a hard time about it, i think your vid was very helpful, but i already know how to knit since childhood, and was just checking out other knitters :) Keep it up :o)
@j8nnyl Thank you, j8nnyl!! :D like i said before, It wasn't meant to be an instructional video. hehe. I do the same as you...i like to check out other ppl's styles at times. :)
@sassy17 - Sure thing! Ya, and by the way, this is very much how i knit... your purling style is very nice and is helpful to me since i am trying to get a smoother western purl goin on ;-) ( i first learned eastern euro from my mama and gram. Thanks again and happy knitting!
You are going way, way, way too fast! How do you expect anybody to learn? If you slowed down you might just help someone. Very bad video, very bad :((
I guess I should have stated that a friend of mine asked me to do this video to show her HOW i knit, but not as a tutorial or instructional video. sorry about that. she just wanted to see how i held my yarn.
May I ask the brand of the knitting needles you use in the video? I've been wanting to get knitting needles in black color, it gives a good contrast to any yarn color.
This video is fine for people who already knit continental and want to see the "standard" moves. There are other videos posted which are instructional in nature and are slow with instructions. You could use this later to see a more realistic speed. :-)
Hmm, now that I've figured it out I can see what you're doing. I think it's the light yarn! Not very nice to video cameras...
I think I knit a bit differently than you, so I can't do the purling in the same way. I push down with my middle finger; my index finger is too far from the needles and it's just awkward.
Maybe I have to get someone to actually teach me continental instead of learning from videos.
i like it can you do like a little slower pleaseeeee i;m try to learn jejeje

@saprater25 sorry about the focus issue. I made this video almost 4 years ago w/ a really crappy camera. THe needles were rosewood needles.

These people don't seem to be able to slow down and explain what they're doing for someone who's just learning. Are they show-offs, or what?

Would be great if you could slow it down so that we could actually see what you are doing. Hard to learn when it is so fast.
