I play this song on my ipod and walk out into the middle of the street and call traffic to a halt with my hand. Then I ponder about the world in a very dramatic and epic way.
A word to Philip Glass. If you do not allow people to listen to your music, then why do you make it? If you do not share your music, then no one will spread your music and you will never be known. This day in age no one will purchase music unless they "know" who it is and how it sounds. You are only hurting yourself friend.
You would be shocked to know that the same story goes with Ennio Morricone's soundtracks..I lost my last youtube account, which had a fully blossomed 105 videos, due to Morricone's soundtrack from Once Upon A Time in the West..I had a protracted argument with Youtube..Still, it was terminated..
@gladir360 Wow... Apparently someone does not know that there are contract companies that musicians work for and these companies (filled with people who are not 80 years old) say it is illegal for his music to be certain places without their permission. Do your homework before you make a stupid comment.
Exactly. I tried to argue that with the supermarket (I was smuggling bread and cookies under my coat) and when they caught me I said, "How am I suppose to know it's tasty unless I taste it first?" FUCK I hate capitalism.
@Kraglord you probably know this from everyone else...but it's the label that pulls shit off youtube, no the writer...as soon as he signs a contract with the label, they are in charge of how to distribute the movie and are therefore free to pull things off youtube
@Kraglord Well, music isn't about recognition. It's about doing what you love and what you can do, and Glass is damn good at that. He definitely gets by very well, and you haven't realized a big issue: he's a minimalist. I honestly love minimalism, but let's see who in the music world takes it seriously. Not many. So anyway, Philip Glass is amazing, and I don't know who you talk to, but everyone knows him, he's just not everyone's favorite. So back off, he's doing what he loves, and damn well.
@Kraglord I hate to be Debbie Downer here, but Mr. Glass is already very well known. He is one of the most recognized and respected contemporary composers. I don't think us YouTubers are going to make much of a difference to his career. Additionally, he composed this music, which makes it his intellectual property. He can decide how he wants it distributed. We should be grateful for such a rare talent instead of pretending we are some gracious beneficiary that enables him to have a career.
@Kraglord Don't diss Philip Glass. It's usually the record companies that take down these videos. The composers/musicians themselves would probably agree with you. Same with films. The director of Downfall enjoyed the Hitler parodies but it was the production company that forced people to take them down
I hope no one is surprised to know that Glass is already "known" and not concerned about spreading his music. He's 75 and already in the books as one of the definitive modern composers.
Your point's valid. YouTube is scrubbing the ability to share copyrighted material, and they'll only get better at it. The tech industry learned something from the late 90's bubble. If you can't make money doing it, you'll go nowhere. For better or worse, that's where we're headed. It's opportunity lost.
Ya..Very true..I remember one of my postings where I had super-imposed this song on the video clip of the Truman Show...First that video was blocked for a day or so and then deleted by Youtube..So beware of this one...
@Kraglord hey i dunno how u do to get free music in north america but down here (argentina) we have some programs in where we get all the music u want, and for free of course, can u believe paying these assholes 2.5 usd? are they nuts? fuck them and all this north american capitalism bullshit which is great but still fucks everybody up, so as i was saying u have multiple programs in where u can get this song for instance... i just did and while i was downloading it came to youtube, aight see ya
@Kraglord partly because it is actually from a documentary called powaqqatsi.. if you search "powaqqatsi anthem part 2" you should get something (hopefully not blink-182 crap).. otherwise type in "the truman show realisation/paranoia".. or "philip glass anthem part 2".
This song is so Epic that it could start a revolution. Maybe this is why its so hard to find. :-)

lol @ artists and labels that think that deleting a video from youtube deletes it from the internet and makes it unfindable.

@Kraglord are you sure it's Phillip Glass' wish not to let people listen to his music ? I guess it is his label who forbids it..
