Thanks for this, I remember watching the semi finals on the day we got taken to Meadowbank. Sandra Whittaker was the last Scottish woman to make any sort of impression in the sprints, I love this race as it's probably the peak performance of her career.

Angella was a notorious over trainer and injured her static nerve very badly in 1983, her coach used to put a weight vest on her and practice her starts (which was her weakness), you can see her stride hitching here from the static nerve problem which plauge her for the rest of her career... among other injuries.

It's a well known fact that this Canadian sprinter was using performance-enhancing drugs - Makes one wonder who else was at this time... Never really enjoyed watching her, she seemed to lose strength in her last stages of her races...
