Interesting that I saw this as a child, but the stupid part of it is that it is the Chinese story of the Monkey King called Journey To The West, but all references of Buddha were taken out. I guess they didn't want to expose American children to other religions. LOL
when he had the nightmare about ll those faces laughing at him, that part creeped me out when i was young, those faces just seemed to STARE AT ME lol i seem to remember they were blue...
@66sandman43 The pig IS Jonathan Winters. Alakazam's voice was provided by Peter Fernandez, who did provide the voice for Speed Racer years later. I always thought it was Frankie Avalon, but he only did the singing voice of Alakazam.
@Montork well, not really so brilliant - I remembered he was Kaa, but wikipedia reminded me he was also Winnie the Pooh. I was never much of a pooh fan. RE: Twilight Zone - didn't know, so I looked it up on IMDB: Twilight Zone (TV series) - TV Repairman – What's in the Box (1964) … doesn't surprise me, he and his voice used to be everywhere. What did surprise me - Wikipedia said he did the voice for Sugar Bear (in commercials) . I remember the bear with a Dean Martin kind of voice...
@Montork I don't think it was him. Sterling Holloway always sounded like Sterling Holloway, that's what he was hired to do, and that's what he delivered, like W C Fields or Mae West (have you noticed how generations of cartoon voice talent copy those iconic voices, almost to the point where you could forget that there was once one original?). I wonder if Wikipedia is wrong... I'm running out of space, but read the entry Sugar_Bear entry at wikipedia - I only ever heard Gerry Matthews voice him
Does anyone remember the name of another obscure Japanese import from around this time, that featured a talking panda bear and a flying ship?
Thanks for the post..

Is this a compilation of clips or is it just me who have a hard time following the story?

Awesome movie. Thanks for posting the high lights. Alakazam's voice reminds me of Speed Racer and the pigs voice of Johnathan Winters.

@Montork Sterling Holloway did a lot of work for Disney - he also did Kaa the snake in Jungle Book, and Winnie the Pooh.
