Moe Knox has really never been given the credit he deserves in Drum Corps. Not only was he the one recorder of drum corps history, he probably was the one person responsible for instilling a personal pride in those, individually, who participated over the years. No matter what corps you belonged to, nor what place your corps came in, Moe Knox took a picture of you over the years. Unfortunately, the Drum Corps Hall of Fame had to be dragged kicking and screaming to give Moe his deserved credit
Having marched in BD in 83 and 84 under Tom Float, who marched in Anaheim, it is in fact the management skills that make BD what it is. You can't attract and retain great marchers, without great instructors. You can't attract and retain great instructors without great management. Great management is what makes Blue Devils what they are.
I missed out on the 72 season. I did marched in 07. I loved wearing the Kingsmen uniform. I always felt that if it wasnt for management problems, the Kingsmen would have been liked the Blue Devils, but better.
Loved the girl's uniforms in those days ... the military style. I wish some corps would go back to those. They'd be "unique" nowadays. Thanks for the pics!
MO KNOX BELONGS IN THE DCI HALL OF FAME! What an injustice.
