last time i had the hood open on that thing i could swear i saw that it was a mechanical, im not too sure about the vin on the engine its been lil less then a year since ive been in that truck what does the 3zj stand for?

they were the last of the mechanical motors they were very very good engines! The peak cat was actually a mechanical still but it had a ecm on it. We convert them back over all the time. All the ecm was for on that engine was for cruise controll and speed limiters stuff like that.

i herd the peec c model motors werent that good tho i dont rember why but everyone ive talked too sayd too stay with the mechanical b and c model cats

well I personally like a c model better because it has wider main bearings. The only thing is we have have a 93 pete with a c and a 89 and 91 with b's and the c cant hang with them and we pulled the screws out of the pump on the c. exact same specs and it just will not hang with them so my dad put a b model pump on the c and I bet there isn't a truck around that can hang with it now! my dad has been a cat mechanic for about 20 years and he finally figured out to put a b pump on a c.

yea man thats pretty sick man my old work truck which was a 1990 pete 379 dumper with the 425 b model that thing was doubled framed dropp axle the works and we would have that tihng up too probeley 107,000 pounds almost everday the motor was soo built proof, even with the double frame the frame would twist like crazy the driver even went threw 3 drive shafts in 1 year lol its really a built proof engine but thats awsome ur dad figrured that out i bet u kno one else has
