@KirstieXoXo When you enter the restaurant, you buy your ramen ticket and whatever side items you want at a vending machine (there are pics). When you sit down they will hand you a sheet of paper that asks you how you would like your ramen prepared (the soup, how spicy, amount of green onions, etc.). That sheet of paper is in Japanese, so just ask for an English version. That's about it. I personally don't like Ichiran. The egg and pork alone aren't that great to me.
Yeah I went to one like that. Ifs deff more complicated but the up swing is you get exactly what you want right down the to the consistency of your noodles. Its funny since I've been back stateside I think "good" ramen has been the most illusive Japanese food, altho a Korean BBQ....
@Surfermitch99 It's simple: Learn. That's all. :o If knowing a few words like 'Arigatou' means that you know how to speak Japanese... Nah, that's just a dream. :/
aww man i want to go there =) yummy! i love the respect they give and how they say hiee its juzst an amazin culture i would like to be in but way too far from meeh you're so lucky C(:
i wen to a korean BBQ place in japan once. just select what u are going to eat, push the button, then give the cook your ticket so he can make it. simple
To me resturants arent supose to make you focus souly on da food but more on the social experiance while enjoyin the food. Theres a place in my area called hiryu sushi. Small hole in the wall resturant but its cozy, friendly and a great place to chat with friends o. A night out or go on a date. They take a while for the food to get to your table but when it does it is fanaminal! I tried their chicken yakiso
Not crapping on your video post but I have a problem with this business model. You never see the cooks, the servers, only their feet, you never see others slurping down the noodles with you in joy, and it just feels like you're entering a food factory and partaking in their assembly line. Why can't they do all of this without all the walls?
@kiman2 All of that is subjective. Some people, myself included, would prefer that kind of privacy. Especially eating Ramen, you may not always want to see the other people slurping down their noodles. Also, it must be great for single people. Eating by yourself in a crowded restaurant can sometimes be awkward, however, this place allows you to eat peacefully a nice bowl of noodles rather than staying home in front of the tv with an instant noodle cup!
@kua514 I ate at a place like this in Ueno and was put of by the experience. Ramen is Japanese comfort food. There's nothing weird about going to a ramen shop and eating by yourself while being surrounded by others. You're unlikely to be the only one. Like izakaya, there's a certain degree of that comfy homely warmth at places like ramen shops. To me, what the private booth does is hide all the great vibe that makes going to get a bowl of ramen such a wonderful experience in the first place.
dude, my friend showed me this one family owned ramen shop in Zama and thats the BEST ramen ive ever had so far in Tokyo but I'll try this one out too
Yum!! I so want to go here in April!! They don't have any English menus or anything do they? :\
