I am a veteran and have PSTD from basic training. We would get punished by making us lie down next to foot high anthills (mountains near Ft Mclelland) and having to lay perfectly still after the drill sergeants kicked them. For awhile you could see your arms swelling from the venom and after your eyes swelled shut you could only imagine what was happening. People really should research the risk.

The reality is 95% of combat veterans will suffer some form of PTSD, these are the statistics.
The Government has a duty of care to protect both veterans and their families.
As a veteran who has served in combat I do not recommend fellow veterans arm themselves on discharge.
Please do not confuse this inportant issue with the Government trying to erode your constitutional rights.
PTSD is a complex issue rarely discussed by veterans in the public domain.

why do people readily give up information to anyone asking.. ? ..when a question is asked just say no .. nope .. i don't recall .. i can't remember .. goodness no .. no-one better have or do that ..the list could go on for years. just don't give up personal information to anyone, especially federal agents/slaves. use that melon on your shoulders before you speak out the hole in it.

I am a veteran and I agree with your government about restricting weapons for veterans who are in a high risk group for PTSD.
The Govt has a duty of care to minimise risk to both veterans and their families.
If you want to go hunting buy a compound bow, if you want to defend your self at night buy a large mag light torch.
Happy to discuss with other veterans.

They apparently did not bother to determine he was a high risk for PSTD they just assumed that because he was in the military he automatically had it. What message does that send to people who are considering the military?

The statistics in Australia for PTSD after serving in a combat area (not a pogo) are 95% will be effected to some degree.
I will simply advise my son not to join due to the long term health risks least of all the short term risks.
People should research the risk before undertaking any profession.
And if you are not a veteran and you are posting your comments, politely, you have no idea.

I am a veteran and have PSTD from basic training. We would get punished by making us lie down next to foot high anthills (mountains near Ft Mclelland) and having to lay perfectly still after the drill sergeants kicked them. For awhile you could see your arms swelling from the venom and after your eyes swelled shut you could only imagine what was happening. People really should research the risk.

Our military have been used and abused(NO VASELINE,either).More vets have been killed by our govt than enemy fire! The military are good brave Americans. Our own govt is the real enemy we face and they are EVIL!

You DO understand that this is just a starting point, right? What's next? Anyone on anti-anxiety meds loses their guns? How bout anyone seeing a marriage counselor? Or people behind on house payments? If a soldier with PTSD want's to kill someone, he/she certainly doesn't need a gun to do it. This is one more step towards total gun control, and gun control WILL NOT SAVE ONE INNOCENT LIFE. Bad guys don't care about gun control!! Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
