Wonderfully spirited performance; passionate and vivacious! My first favorite is Louis Lortie, though. This runs a tight second. I have the sheet music, too. I like to just stare at those amazing leaps and bounds, shifting lines and phenomenal stretches ( 'cause I certainly can't play them, lol!).
Vi a ese pianista cuando tocó en Madrid en 2009, o fue 2010, ahora no me acuerdo. Es fenomenal. Le buscaba después para saludarle pero parecía un poco antipático (no digo que es, es así que parecía) y después de poco se fue.
This is such an incredible piece!! I have the sheet music and it's unbelievably hard though.. How is it that I've never heard it in discussions about the hardest pieces in the modern repertoire??? It seems like its up there with Scarbo and Islamey! I haven't learned either of those, so I can't really talk, but any input??
Really wonderful. Colourful playing. Different tone colours could be perfrectly shown. This is the best version of Petrouchka that I have ever enountered. Your fingers are fully responsive to your mind of playing. Did you win the competition?
i read it is one of the most difficult piece to play, but i think that a prokofiev's concerto or some other rachmaninov compositions are more difficult...
sorry: I think I accidentally graded it less: I wanted to give maximum, and I can not change it anymore :( . Anyway: GREAT, I like that it is MUSIC, not just fast playing :)
This is an incredible performance and easily one of the best but do check out Natalia Trull's interpretation from the 86' Tchaikovsky competition her on YT.That performance was mind blowing as well.
Really appreciate this video as I've never seen it performed before.
I do prefer Pollini's version I have on CD. I think he lets the inner melody of the block chords sing slightly better, and some of Alessandro's pauses between sections are a little uncomfortable to my ears. But still a wonderful performance.
Beautiful!

It said that to win the lottery of life is to be born male and Italian; and then this guy gets talent too. Sheesh, life ain't fair.

Seems like this guy is on his way to picking up a major prize at the 2009 Leeds - a major talent and wonderful player.

This Petrouchka performance is on par with Pollini and Weissenberg. An mp3 of the performance would be appreciated.

I've heard this played by several people and this is one of the best--only Alpin Hong plays it better.

Listen to Kissin's rendition - I saw his performance in Carnegie Hall, 2005, and have never been more impressed

I think Pollini and Weissenberg play this set wonderfully. Weissenberg, in particular, said the work was not terribly difficult for him.

There is a chord after the Glissando.. watch his left hand.

How the hell did he play the last chord of the piece?! It simply disappears with the Glissando. How the hell did he do that?!?
