That's happened to me on Wi-Fi, once...though, using completely different characters. I was playing as Lucario, and just sitting in the area where the blocks fall. One bomb fell on me, and it exploded (I did get hurt in the process, of course), and it turned the area into the same thing you experienced.

@flipkid2006 When Ganon's exploding kick attack hit Captain falcon's shield the knockback was registered as an attack and it made the bomb blocks behind him blow up. But since the knockback wasnt an attack with a numerical value the game still thought the bomb blocks were there and placed the hitbox where it felt was right.

@gamingfan94 no it not all that, the same bug, or a very similar one, exists in the US version, I've seen it, and it was were the blocks spawn that had the explosive area hitbox, not the area where the blocks gather.

If you didn't see it, it was near the end, when Capt.Falcon ran to the right and just blew up, then it said "PLAYER 4 defeated!". normally the bomb blocks blow up but this time it was just air... possibly methane?
