It might have been because like today they have commercials with toys that include other ones that we have no idea about untill they talk about them.

In the Mattel dealer catalogs and this commercial, the Allan doll shown was an actual PROTOTYPE that was never mass produced! The difference is in the eyes as the mass production version had slightly side-glancing eyes. The same goes for Barbie here too with her eyes looking straight ahead!

Allen is Midge's husband now, they are married. They got married in 2005 and Mattel made the Happy Family set, they stopped making the dolls in mid 2006 I think. But, the series MIGHT be back next year.
