my grandpa has two morbidly obese dogs. this makes me sad because all i see is those two fat dogs when i watch this. all his other dogs died of congestive heart failure, yet he continues to kill his dogs with people food. they jump on the table now and steal food from the plates and they'll bite if you try to take it away. if you love your dog, don't over feed them. you'll be giving them years of their life that they deserve.

we do feed our dog human food but not a lot and not at the table, after dinner i take all the dishes to the counter and then I take a small bit of meat and put it in her dish then take her for a long walk after and shes nice and fit :)

This actually made me a little sad. A person I know fed her dog so much that the dog died because it was so obese.

You can show your pet you love them in multiple other ways. Overfeeding your dog to death hardly is one of them.

@maimy0 I had a dog who was obese. She sadly died over a year ago, i miss her so much. The strange thing is that mostly overweight people constantly felt the need to tell me i was feeding her too much, whitch i wasn't. She was kept on a strict diet, but just like some humans she was simply overweight. It gets frustrating when telling fat people 'my dog is on a diet' when i'm too polite to ask those people if they are.

But don't worry, i know you mean well :). And i love these cartoons.

An excellent warning! This should be a poster in every vet's waiting room and shown as a TV advert. I was told by my vet that it's safe for a dog to lose up to 10% of it's body weight per month. That takes a very strict dieting and a good exercise regime, but the result is worth it!

I have a friend with a Golden Retreiver that looks, and acts, like that. The poor thing should weigh about 65 to 70 lbs for her breed. She weighs at least 125 pounds. Damn shame, yet the owner doesn't think there is a problem. Of couse, SHE'S about 60 pounds overweight herself, so there you are.......
