  • I would love to try this style but need to purchase a waver. I was looking at the VS Wave Magic as compared to the traditional clamp style. What are your thoughts on using the VS with the starch to create the same tight wave?

  • @zuzana6865 I just looked up reviews on the wave magic and it appears that it is more for the loose curl kind; of beachy wave. I'm not familiar with it myself, but as long as you can get those tighter waves, it should be fine. I just didn't see any tutorials or reviews that looked like you could achieve that look.

  • hi, i was wondering if i could use a still from this video for an Internet Processes Technology Assessment? I would be putting it on the cover of a 'magazine' and it is being sent into a competition. :)

    great tutorial!

  • @issiebee1 Go for it! Would love to see the final results. :)

  • You are GORGEOUS omg I am in love with the way you look fresh out of bed with your natural fresh shower hair and no make up and your lips omg I wish I had them

  • @Michaeljackson450 ahh...thank you. :)

  • Very informative. Thank you. Will try your tips out today.

  • This is so wonderful! I am going to be modeling in a 1920's/30's Gangster style Photoshoot this weekend, and this is JUST what I needed to get the perfect style for my hair. Thank you! :)

  • You looks part indian. Are you half mexican?

  • @lucasfv No, I have a little Italian in me but no Mexican.

  • Incredible! You are gorgeous and this video was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I only wish I could pull it off like you do! I'm gonna try!

  • @khammerfly Thanks!

  • I have been looking at video after video trying to find a video that actually TELLS me what I need and what to do. Your is by far the best one I've seen! Very descriptive and perfect. So thanks. This was really helpful :)

  • @kiranm91 I'm so glad this helped you. Thanks for your comments. :)

  • You are very pretty! You remind me of Helena Bonham Carter!

  • @Klouise2010 Thank you! She's my favorite actress! :)

  • nice!

  • Wow. You have a classic beautiful face which wouldn't be out of place in a 20's movie. The shape of the face I think has a lot to do with carrying these hair styles off successfully.

  • @yehrightify Thank you. :)

  • I need to try this!!

  • I love the music in the background. :)

  • About how many pins u think u used?!

  • @KiddLatoria I probably used between 20 and 30 pins for this hair style. It just depends on how well your hair stays put and how much of it you have to pin. :)

  • using this for me 1920's party. so excited.

  • WOW, seriously thank you so much for this video. I love the 20's and I've been looking all over Youtube for an easy way to get this exact look. I can't believe how simple it is! Thanks again :-)

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I've seen other finger wave tutorials and they're so confusing, especially for girls with a lot longer hair. This is much easier and I'm sure it will turn out great.

  • Wow. This video was so good even a retard like me could do it! Seriously, I can never style my own hair without it taking like 3 hours. But this took 10 minutes and it looks amazing! Thank you SO much for this video!

  • very cute. love the skills, love the look, love the music. you are very down to earth and informative.

  • IT WAS AMAZING! you should really make more videos ;)

  • thank you so uch...your so pretty

and i totally used this on a client =]

  • @elctronerd Thanks! That's awesome, how did it turn out?

  • thank you. BTW you look just like Geena Davis!

  • @pennylanestyle Glad you like it. I get that a bit. :)

  • you should reaaaally make more vids, youre good at this.

  • @LeaveJordanAlone Thanks, I might make some more when I have some spare time. :)

  • @rindykid You're very welcome. :)

  • Thank you very much for sharing this! Very very very well done I am officially inspired.

  • @Onion15505 Yay! Thanks :)

  • Loved the video! THanks for sharing!!!!! YOu looked stunning!

  • Best vid on YouTube! Thank you so much! I'm wearing my hair like this for a costume party tonight :)

  • you are gorgeous! thanks so much for this tutorial :)

  • you are so awesome thanks so much im go do this for my wedding :)

  • This tutorial is so perfect. I just did this for my prom. Thank you!!

  • you looked really old with the makeup on, but w/o the makeup, you look so young and pretty, definitely model material :)

  • thankks so much! this was really helpful for the school play we are doing :D

  • This is seriously the best vintage tutorials I've ever seen. It's not costume-like, it's real. And you aren't obnoxious and don't go on about pointless things in your video. Thank you so much for this, you're beautiful!

  • @cStudmuffin Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you like the video and hope you get some good use out of it. :)

  • love it, it looks soooo cool!

  • @ Southphilly - Why thank you, I certainly enjoy witty compliments...you are obviously a master of intelligent conversation.

  • @vasgarcia: Hm, Vasgarcia 1, Southphilly 0. Nicely done.

  • You got bigger bags under your eyes then my luggage

  • I'm sorry but, You certainly give Jean Harlow a run for the money! Great job and you are gorgeous!!!

  • THANK YOU so much for this tutorial. You are such a pretty girl and I really like this WEARABLE make up.

I adore how you did your lips..sadly you skipped that in the video, but it looks really great. Any chance of showing us how you get them like that? Shape , color. perfection etc?

If not..would you please tell me again ( it was really fast in the video ) WHAT kind of lip color/gloss/application you used for this??

Thank you so much and PLEASE keep posting.

  • @CarolaNanomi It's actually a discontinued Mary Kay lip gloss called "Brownie". I think I just used a lip liner and that lip gloss. Thank you for your encouragement. :)

  • agreed... you are stunning! your high cheekbones, beautiful jawline, gorgeous eyes, and brows perfect nose... Also thanks for sharing this great instructional video, I'm looking forward to trying the techniques.

  • LOVE this!!! Thank you sooo much!

  • Cool!! Is a "waver" the same as a crimper iron???

  • @OXgimmealuvbiteXO Nope, a waver has one or 2 things sticking out. A crimper has less of a portuding one, and a couple of them.

  • girl, you are so pretty!

  • @sunnybeets2055 Thank you. ^_^

  • Awesome tutorial! Glad I watched!

  • Kaaay sooo umm..I like your hair tutorial the most I've seen out of the 20's hairstyle tutorials I've seen aand I have a question. :) Uhm...you see my history class is having a 1920's party aaand my hair is long, thin, and straight, and I don't have a wavererer...(sorry. forgot what you said it was.) And I was wondering if there was a different way that I could make it look like that...:\ I know right, sounds like a personal problem. lol

  • @ibruisedmahbrain I really don't know. I haven't tried it without a crimper. You might try it with a curling iron - holding it in your hair then turning the iron and holding it down farther. It would take forever, but it might work.

  • @vasgarcia Okie dokie. Thank you. ^-^

  • I think it should be said that this really only works for curly and very wavy hair....my hair is too thin straight and it would not work.

  • @halcyonlurker Did you try using a spray starch? I was able to get it to work on my mother-in-laws hair and she has very straight hair that doesn't hold a curl very well. Just use LOTS of starch and hairspray. :)

  • Yay! now I don't have to cut my hair short annnd I can get this amazing look! thank you for sharing :D

  • Really beautiful! Thanks.

  • very cute hair you did. Your naturally pretty as well :)

  • @1LilMegz Thank you :)

  • you are so helpful! thanks for the tutorial!

  • you look so pretty without makeup :)

  • @wildchildjackson thank you :)

  • great!! thank you !

  • this video is sooooooo helpful!!! i jave a 20's party coming up for my history class! thank you!

  • This is really good! I don't have time to make my hair in real finger waves, so this is so helpful! Thank you so much!

  • Beautiful look and a gorgeous smile.

  • Such a natural beauty! Great tips, thank you so much!

  • What brand of hair waver did you use for your hair. I am planning on buying one and that one looks great!

  • @butterflie2484 It's a Conair - I don't remember the model but I *think* I mention it in the video.

  • Your hair before you styled it looks like mine does right now xD

  • exquisite!

  • you look like haley (lucas' best friend) from one tree hill at the beginning lol

  • do you have a tutorial for the make up? because I am being a girl from the 1920s and I don't own a finger wave or any spray starch now is the spray a must have or can i do without and is there anyway I can this without a finger wave and with just a curling iron is that possible?

  • @PurplePandaBear777 The makeup tut is at the end of this video. I don't have anything more elaborate than that.

You don’t need the starch but it’s pretty cheap and definitely helps. Try it with hair spraying after it’s curled. You might be able to do it with a curling iron if you hold it on your hair in one direction then flip. Basically creating the same effect as the crimper but will take a bit longer. I've never tried it so that's just what I would try. Let me know if it works. :)

  • awesome!! looks great. Gonna try it out

  • Thanks! I love the music in the background too!

  • Thank you very much! This was the most helpful video I found for the long hair.

  • Wow, I really like this look. I have the homecoming dance for my High School coming up in a few weeks and this hairstyle is perfect for the dress I'm wearing.

The dress I picked out is a kind of 1920-1930's looking thing and I needed a hairstyle to go with it. And this tutorial is just PERFECT!!! thank you very much!

  • very clever. I need a crimper!!

  • Sorry the comment posted by Tyalaxandar was me my son was signed into my youtube on my phone LOL. Thanks again. Great tutorial by far the best ive used on youtube

  • I wanted to tell you I went to wedding that was very important to me yesterday. My cousin had a 1920s inspired wedding and it was very important to me to get this right :) my hair came out amazing thanks to

Your video!! Just what I pictured I wanted to achieve. Thanks a bunch if I could post a picture for you I would.

  • stunning :) well done

  • @4shaw4lyfe Thank you. :)

  • i really like your video, it's very helpful! but my favorite thing about it is the billie holiday playing in the back ground, she's my absolute fav :)

  • @chandelleG Thanks, she's one of my favs also! :)

  • this is very nice. i am going to try it. i have always loved those old 20's silent movies and i ve always wanted their hair!

  • Love this thank you!!

  • I just wanted to say this is great, I'm really looking forward to trying it out as I have longer hair and I'm performing in a musical set in the 1920s in a few weeks but can't bare to cut my hair. This looks pretty authentic even if it is faux and the make up is great, I hadn't even thought about making sure the make up was period authentic. Seeing as I'm just chorus so will most likely have to do my own so you've really, really helped me out. Best 1920s tutorial for long hair that I've seen.

  • @PoppetJenn Thank you for your comments. I'd love to know how it turns out! :)

  • very nice. thankyou

  • great! thank you!

  • You made it look so easy!! thanks! I've been dying to do this hair style!

  • dove si compra qsta piastra?? in italia nn c'èèè??

  • @KiarettaDolzeCoatta It's not available anymore from amazon but there are others that are similar. I don't know if they'll work with your electric outlets though...

Go to amazon.com and search for "Hair Crimper".

  • Women in this time actually did this same thing, as not everyone was willing to go from long, Gibson girl hair to a chopped bob. Very cool.

  • thanks for this video it helped me a lot to learn how to do this for my play bugsy malone

  • Perfect! Easy and cute. You are so beautiful. Thank you Thank you!

  • Holy crap you're pretty.

  • You are an artist! hahahaha

And you look really really nice with that look. You see, that video has been soo helpful because I've got a little theatre company in my country (Spain) and our play takes part in the 1920's. As we don't have enough money to have hairdressers we have to do it by our own. So, you'll be our cyber-teacher! hahahaha

    Thanks a lot!

    Adrià.

  • Her info is very specific, i like that she mentioned the specific products used

  • @smashzen

I liked this tutorial! Loved the music in the background.

  • hi, my hair is like straight as a ruler & it's 30" long . how would you reccommend i put my hair to make it look like this ? like if i dont want to just have it downn

  • Really nice! You should make more videos!

  • @melray562 Thank you, I have some other hair styles I want to do. One of these days... :)

  • great video! i always wanted to do my hair like that so now you have inspired me! im glad i searched for this video!! and you're so pretty btw!

  • @ooolaiaa Thank you :)

  • I have some what brow length bangs... not sure how to work around them.. any suggestions?

  • @Tinymoezzy I'll mess around and see what I can do.

  • @Tinymoezzy You could turn them into kiss curls.

  • MAN. I wish I had this video fifteen years ago! This is fantastic, and thank you!

  • This hairstyle worked SO well and is totally wearable, my sister might wear this for her vintage inspired wedding :) Thanks!

  • That's awesome! Thanks for your comments. :0

  • Awesome!!!! Very inspiring!!!

  • Thank you! My school is doing Chicago and this really helped!

  • Really useful video, have been trying to do this hairstyle for ages.

  • Thank. You. So. Much. I'm in a production of Singin' In the Rain and was actually going to cut my hair off, but now I don't have to! Hahaha if you're in CIncinnati around mid-April, let me know, I owe you one :)

  • Glad I could help!

  • thank you, for this tutorial, i often find it difficult to find tutorials on the net that i can transfer onto myself. very helpful indeed!

  • 2:20

  • This looks good! I have a 1920s event in London coming up called Prohibition which I will be able to use this for

    Thanks again.

  • fantastic! an actually informative video. My highschool is doing the play good news (1920s) and not only are we having trouble with the finding costumes (our prop room is willed with 60s-80s) we were all completley lost on hair. Thanks for the help!

  • Glad it helped! We did a 20's themed party and got costumes made up relatively cheaply by going to thrift stores and altering the dresses and I made the cloches. Check out the costumes in the video response to this tutorial for what we did if you're interested.

  • thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!

    this was SO helpful!!

i have always had really long hair, and i was asked to cut it off to play tallulah in bugsy malone, but i tried this and they loved it so you have totally saved my life!!!

  • So glad it worked out for you! :)

  • Thanks so much, I'm playing Momma Rose in "Gypsy", and have very long hair! I'm definitely going to do this look!

  • CHECK OUT AMOMMAOFTWO

  • You are actually doing what most girl's truley did in the 20's/30s with their hair!!! (pressed with hot wave iron and pinned under)Kudos!! It's how bobbi-pins got their names. For girls who didn't want to cut their hair it was rolled up and pinned to look like a bob. Most full fingerwave sets would've been done in salons, but sometimes were also short wigs!

  • Thank you sooo much for posting this video!! I'm in a local production of Thoroughly Modern Millie a show set in the 1920's. I have long hair and did NOT want to cut it, this is the perfect solution!!

  • haha..you're quite welcome. You aren't, by chance, in a high school production in Brooklyn are you? I just made a ton of cloche's for a high school production of Thoroughly Modern Millie meant to start at the end of this month. :) Anyhow, have a great show!

  • This is wonderful! I have long hair but some friends and I are putting on a 1920's murder mystery and this is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much for making and posting this video.

  • This is awesome! We are going to to a 20's ere 'Murder Mystery Dinner', and I figure I can get away with less 'costume' if I get the hair right! Thanks so much! *oh, and I agree w/ putting a mirror behind you so 'we can see that, and maybe adding some lighting to define your gorgeous dark hair!

  • You look so glamerous(sp?)! &your vid was simple to follow; great steps, etc. ( in future video's could you add a mirror behind you if possible?) My daughter & I (I have looong hair, hers is jst past her shoulders)are in a play set in the '20's and have been going mad trying to find hairstyles that'll work w/o the big snip. you've saved the day!! I can't wait to show off @ next rehearsal.

  • Very cool! Thank you so much. It looks really good on me; you saved my day!

  • This was so helpful, thankyou! I am going to a Prohibition party in a couple of weeks and will now be able to sort hair without spending hours on finger waves. Love the make-up, too- you look lovely.

  • slraft: Be quiet! Haters like you don't accomplish anything by negative talking about a video that has alot of people(myself included) raving about. You do something this great and then maybe you can talk about something being "the best".

vasgarcia: You did fantastic, girl! Don't let haters get you down! I'm hard to please and I liked this very much. I'll have to try it one time.

  • Thanks. :) Yeah, depending on your hair type, you could definitely loose the hair pins with enough hairspray.

  • ur fabulous!!

  • Thank you :)

  • Very nice, can't wait to try it!

  • @onept21jigawatts: thanks, have fun!

  • Haven't watched through the whole tutorial, but the finishing result looks amazing even if it's faux.

  • Thanks. :)

  • It's not meant to be authentic, it's meant to be quick and wearable. I think the finished results aren't bad for more of a 30s look if you're just winging it for a high school dance or something.

  • Thank you!, I think it will work perfectly for me because i have the same kind of hair and I needed a well done look for the role of Velma Kelly wich i am going to starred in a school production. Brilliant! :)

  • @Cristymas77: ooooh...how fun!

  • Wow very simple and elegant whoop!

  • @DeliciousCassiopeia: :) thanks

  • Great look. What did you use on your lips?

  • @nhubs: It's Mary Kay lip gloss in Brownie (sadly discontinued)

  • @wonderfulfuckyou: thank you :)

  • Bloody brilliant.

  • @rosemaria1981: haha, thank you. :)

  • You are beautiful! And I love that your finger wave doesn't take 14 hours to do. (:

  • @holadotorg: Thank you. I definitely don't have the patience for that! hah.

  • i wish this tutorial had been around in march when i was in my schools production of "the boyfriend" it would have helped me so much.... it's really good!
