@DARRINCONNOR1 And Quorthon said Bathory wasn't influenced by Venom which is clearly bullshit (no disrespect, R.I.P.)... bands probably say stuff like that to avoid being labeled as a clones. I remember them saying they weren't influenced by Slayer but in the same interview they said they kicked out Brian Montana because they caught him hooking up with a dude! Probably just young egos talking shit (plus I've seen Jeff in a Slayer shirt)

I don't remember the name of it but I definitely remember them saying Slayer wasn't an influence and that Brian got kicked out for being gay. They were also talking shit on Hellhammer's musical abilities in that same interview (I honestly don't know how I can remember that shit some 25 years later, especially considering how much weed I smoke!)
I got to see Possessed open for D.R.I. & Exodus in Jan. 1986 at the Balboa Theater. To me, they were the better band that night. When Exodus played (Baloff on vocals, the only Exodus vocalist that mattered) I was still in awe of Possessed. They hit the stage with all their black leather & spiked garb. They just looked like Hell's house band. They opened the show with The Exorcist.
Pretty fucking sure I was at this concert. I MIGHT be the kid in the white t-shirt with the red bandana on his head who keeps stage diving. I know I saw Possessed in 1987 in Baltimore at a place called Channel One.
Megadeth should of opened up for them !
