I did not interpret his words to mean the assembling of a strike force. I've rewatched it and the meaning of his phrasing 'putting gays in the force' is still seems to me to be talking about the entire military. They were discussing DADT, and DADT isn't constrained to specific situations and missions.

@koren1124 Yes, it's exactly the same Cheney. His relative tolerance for gays has always been the lone bright spot in his personality.

Conservatives usually have one token issue that they can act fair or tolerant or compassionate about; in Dick's case that issue is gay rights because he has a gay daughter (not Liz who is always on news shows, the other one.) But he's still a bloodthirsty totalitarian.
