@matheona I don't know much about the issue. I know that the region used to have several small kindoms thousands of years ago. Most of the kindoms got defeated by China more than a thousand years ago. The last one in the southern regions was defeated in late 18th century. It decleared independence in early 20th century in Kashgar area, but it didn't last long. It is doubtful that independence can be achieved again or not. Sure, it will be headaches for China and more suffering for the pople.
