A better way of doing it is to get a thick metal file and place it between the bridge pick up on a single coil guitar. Magnets hold it in place while the strings bounce around on top of it and make a sitar-like sound. This paperclip idea is rubbish because it doesn't give the same definition of harmonic resonance as something far bigger does, to emulate a sitar

It's not just that. You can't get optimum speed through that way of picking. It's simply better and makes much more sense to learn to use your wrist for fast picking. Isn't going to make your forearm feel like it's going to errupt after a while, either. You can use the forearm to pick WITH the wrist, however, for incredibly fast picking and/or to create 'pulses', but it's certainly no use using the arm itself.
