Technically the ant only controls/overrides Sniffles' body, therefore if he is able to detect a lapse in the ant's commands he would be able to make an attempt to push the helmet off him. Even if he only nudged it it would disturb the signals. Also the ant would be incapable of doing many of the commands it did, as it for one would be unable to reach inside its mouth to pull out its tongue. At the end it would be more likely if Sniffles' tail or snout was torn off.
