  • this is the worst video on the reality of the industry, today.

  • ........ 10 to 30 years? This is clearly showing it's age ad sillyness, considering books written in month with no editing are getting published in the same year now a days (nothing against the month writing, it's the no editing on the author's part that irks me. REVISION.)

And PFFFFFFT WoW and Second Life avatars? I love both of them but... WOW... Is this supposed to be serious or is this a giant joke? If it's the later, it's actually pretty funny. 83

  • @writersbane You're true :) but for ex. Wow i Could never look at it like "not a joke"..its simply "another" MMO with the same features as about 100-200 other game, no more :D Aaaand as we learned in school, long ago were "literature" and "pulpfiction"... today i almost only find the pulp ones :\

  • @writersbane Of course it's a joke, lol.

  • i never knew world of warcraft helps get a book published :O damn,,, i shouldnt have deleted mine :P hahaha

  • marketing done through world of warcraft and second life? I seriously doubt that is how it works

  • ExPRESSION by John Siwicki

  • garbage information - from a professional published writer. It doesn't take 10 years to write a book, it takes from 3-7 months to write a book if you're good. Never go through traditional publishing, its done!

  • Comment removed

  • @KRSchannel it takes 3 to 7 months if you're good. really. do you really wanna stick with that?

  • "anywhere from 10 to 30 years" onwards. Hilarious. Made my (sad and lonely) day!

  • BULLSHIT!!

--from a professional, published, award-winning author.

  • Brilliant!!

  • Bugger, I thought I had finally found the infomation I was looking for my primary class, LUCKY I WATCHED IT FIRST!!!!!!!

  • Great combination of nonsense and reality. Amusing.

  • haha nice

  • Free WoW game cards at freewowgametime(.)com?join=9 . Thanks Lara Anselmo

  • Hahaha! I thought this was real at first! 10-30 years! Damn you scared me! =)

  • 10 to 30 years lol

  • @stopmotionfan123 : The book may spend that much time percolating in our MINDS(Ray Bradbury), but once it gets out where people can see it, things pick up speed quickly.

  • More Italics!

  • I'm coming out with a new novel in the summer of 2040. Stay tuned for more info!

  • HAHAHAHA!

  • @LunchAnderson : I'm burning with anticipation! ;]

  • Haha this is definitely a joke.

  • I am nineteen-years-old. I have written a memoir entitled, "The Impossible Dreams of Teenagers," documenting the six-year odyssey of a group of teenagers, attempting to make a feature film by the time they graduate high school.

I am now in the process of looking for a literary agent. Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated!

  • Bravo!

  • WATCH THIS VIDEO CALLED, paulhiv1, THANKS.

  • wow.... I could see that happening in an alternate universe, where books are more important than money.... writers make $70,000 a yr working on one book... I should write a book about it!

  • very useful info, posted it with my blog idea girl says :)

  • lol! I didn't even realise this was a joke! I spent about two minutes with my mouth wide open. I then realised and started laughing!

  • i knew something was up when it said it takes ten to thirty years to write a book. the typewriter was also weird.

  • can you read my book and tell me what you think amazon,com-You Tell Me Why I Did It-by Delores A.E.White thank you

  • Hilarious!

  • This is how I typed my first novel, on an old electric typewriter! ha ha

  • LOL This is hysterical. I knew something was off but I didn't really get it until about two minutes in. Good job!

  • 30 years? Crap, I should have started writing when I was born.

    lol

  • I didn't even catch on at first XD so embarrassing XD must be cuz I'm tired.... this is so funny XD

  • LOL! Exactly my experience!! Thanks for waiting 30 years for my first novel, guys! At least by the second, I won't need the $80K a year daycare!

  • made me smile. nice vid. -C

  • Wow, amazing. I hope nobody believes this. Eighteen edits? Then why do most books hit the shelves with glaring typos still in the print? LOL!

  • Lol ..your'e right earthtomom. Audio books are becoming more popular. I posted a trailor her that I made reading an excerpt of "Rage" part of a collection of stories by published author, Shane Joseph as his book trailor. He loved my representation and mentioned that my tones, accent etc. gave the perfect "mood" for his book. I charge a great deal LESS than many who already offer this service. Anyone have a book they would like a trailor for? Visit my page & listen to a couple.

  • Check the out the one I posted above this text using a north english accent while reading "The 'ole in the Ark" by Marriott Edgar ...ha. I had so much fun doing that one..lol.

  • Wonderful.

  • it's funny because it's true. ;-)

  • haha, I love this.

  • Great video - love the typewriter shot!

  • I'm really scared that some people will think that's how it really works. . . .

  • This is a riot. I love it!

  • This was hilarious!

  • Now I realize what my problem getting published is. I'm not taking long enough to write my novels.

  • I resent the tone of irony in this video. Why, last month my blog grossed $.17 in ad revenue.

  • It's profitable if you have views...lots and lots and lots and lots of unique views. Your ads must be extremely relevant and coming from reputable sources. Good ads usually have been auditioned and filtered out by the blogger or webmaster. You're not going to make a buck with 100 unique views a month with "free xbox" or "shoot the duck and win a macbook!" ads.

  • Irony just goes right over some people's heads, don't it?

  • So it *is* much more lucrative than book sales!

  • This video really caught me off guard. It gave me areally good laugh though. =D It just shows that you really have to pay attention to EVERYTHING.

  • Hello!? What happened to the design phase?

    Signed

    A book designer

  • You outsource it and tell unemployed designers to fuck off and stop calling!

    just kidding

  • Nice. What's your twitter address?

  • Now that's just silly..and very accurate, no doubt:-)

  • Great overview of the industry! Could you tell Pam to make sure they don't put so much starch in my collars next time?
