Omgosh. My mom is making me drink combucha (sp) however she is like cultivating it in our kitchen. And its suppose to be like a miracle drink or something. Glad to see that someone else is drinking that.
it's good that you're splitting your food intake up in some little meals, that's a progress!
I can understand, that you only that 'safe food' in the beginning, I wish you can eat some cake anytime and feel good about it :)
I also understand the comments about the obsession with food, but that's what an eating disorder is about and if you don't want to be triggered then don't watch it, it's your choice. maybe she just wants some opinions from others who struggle too?
@TouchMyDot; You are a flaming pri**! Why don't you go back to Hell where you came from? It's so obvious your jealous of her, and the only thing that makes you feel better about yourself is being nasty towards other people. I wouldn't touch your dot with a ten-foot pole, and if you're a male, I know what the 'dot' probably refers to. I wish we could get all the damn trolls off of You Tube.
so i think what they do to the fruits and vegetables is they put... growth stuff in them, but i dont think its hormones... they give hormones to animals so there's more meat to them =[
and so the "regualr" blood oranges are less red because the red is more spread out. Like really spread out. And ofcourse if they put unnatural stuff in natural stuff(fruits and veggies) then the natural stuff loses nutritional value. And that's not nice, is it?
yea in france the soil has to be free of toxins for 15 years while in the us its like 5 years in order for food to be considered organic. like french normal food is our organic food.
Hahaha, I'm sorry I had to comment this one. Its too funny. I don't usually literally "LOL" when I watch a video on here but that story at the end got me.
By the way, I see that you're doing raw (or something very close to it) and that's also how I eat. Yep, definitely lower that Magnesium dosage! :/ Kombucha is brilliant.
I got that kombucha stuff at wholefoods.(I picked out the dark purple liquid one in a glass bottle.)It's really good for you!My anatomy lab teacher told us it's really good for your eyes, it's practically the only thing that improves your vision.I think it tastes like crap, but next time I get it I'm going to mix it with grape juice or something.
Where are you? Thinking about your 1000kcal a day and your organic raw eating, I suppose you are in some eating disorder clinic...I hope you will recover soon!
oh gosh what a great video journal... stumbled upon it while searching KOMBUCHA. Yes magnesium is important. And phosphorus too. 80% of americans don't get enough magnesium and are difficient. Phosphorus you need for calcium utilization in bones and teeth, as well as vitamin d but if yu go outside a lot, yu'll get it naturally from the sun.
hey have u no new videos? I love the narration of your life. I know its therapeutic to you, but I feel better after watching your videos aswell. so keep up the good work :) ps NEVER get rid of your moles, they're gorgeous!
very nice interest food Elle.. I'm skinny.. I hate my bodies so skinny.. I'm trying to eating some food still not work for me healthy.. not enough Strong.. but i did drink milk everydays.. and the I might will go exercise in later.. that's all.. Awsome Elle way to go~!
kombucha orange ? I think sound it is that of name it is.. is from Japan i guess.. I see someone reply message here.. saw someone name.. ''Archica'' she said that orange it is from Japan.. we had that the some kind orange in hong kong.. bought it from Japan.. wow.. too much cost.. I hate expensive..
Oh my gosh, woman! I've got IBS and I've totally been there. In fact, I was there today at work. Oy vey! I know your pain! I love how frank you are in this one.
I enjoy watching your videos so much I created my very own account! I loved your "pill popper" video. You reminded me about the importance of calcium. Anyway, your videos are so honest, you rock...Make more! I love all your healthy tips (The spray salad dressing was awesome!!!!!!!!!) You're the best. Hope you're doing well.
I think "conventionally grown" is the term you are looking for to describe produce that is not organic.
I started an organic co-op. Without it I would not be able to afford organic. Now I get super fresh, really beautiful organic produce at wholesale. I have a short video about it if you are interested.
You're an interesting person. It's pretty refreshing to see someone act so "not typical". It makes me want to start the whole "You Tube Blog" type thing. It looks fun.
Hey Elle! I haven't signed into my account in forever because I couldn't remember my password! (And also forgot your sn, but I made a lucky guess so here I am)..anyway- I am going to buy a video camera tomorrow because I have a lot in common with both you and ashleyjuddstwin. If you get a chance I'm going to try & make a video tomorrow nite so please check it out. ttyl
The "opposite" of organic is usually called "conventional." ;)
Organic certification is very hard to get, but that was a hard political battle to win and it could be taken away if we don't watch our leaders. Produce is often smaller because it has to be picked earlier and shipped halfway around the world - reducing its nutrition, as well. Commenters telling you that eating local is more important than organic certification are generally correct. Look into harvest-sharing programs nearby!
Kombucha is amazing and so great for you. Stick with the one in the glass bottle, and make sure that the unorganic food you buy it stuff with an outside layer. Buying unorganic grapes is worse than buying an unorganic orange... Sine the orange has a peel.
i know from past experience that the drink that comes in the glass bottle with the chunks... its more or less beer it just hasnt been through the entire process so they arent required to lable as alcoholic.. crazy...
the organic crop sizes depend alot on where they are grown and how fertile the soil is, my family grows produce just to grow it and our oranges are HUGE! like the size of the un organic grapefruits... i wish i could send you some we have tones and tones of citrus right now.
I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your vlogs..
I just had to laugh about the story you told in the end...I know how that feels!!!*g*...
I experienced the same thing once-I chocked on my gum!!It sounded like I was dieing! And the whole class was silent for what seemed like an eternity!ahhh...
As with most fruits and vegetables, there are many varieties of artichokes from different regions. I think there are something like 50 or so different types...green globe, cimaroli, desert, big hearts, baby ect... Which could also explain the size and color difference in alot of produce.
As an interesting side note, an article in the Utne Reader a couple of months ago claimed that organic food production is actually worse for the environment as it uses more resources per pound harvested. I guess there's always a trade off.
organic standards are actually really strict. it's actually really hard to get the actual green "organic" label. it takes over 3 years for their crops to be labeled organic, because of the time that it takes to make sure that other farmers' pesticides aren't drifting to their land. if you want to read up more on it there might be flyers at the health food store that you go to.
i love kombucha. is that the same brand as the "gt" stuff in the glass bottle?
How I decide if stuff r organic? (1) Ensure they are not from America, and in most cases buy from local farmers in my country or home town. That way I am 100% confident they are organic. Uh, . . .It's called "traditionally grown" although I've always wondered why because I would guess the first plants were grown without pesticides. lol
