I don't like her style. She is very powerful but also shaky. She lacks the elegance that Pavlova or Luikin have.

Anyway, she deserved the gold medal. Khorkina was a spoiled brat that had no respect for her opponents. When she lost any medal, she always said that it was the judges that didn't want her to win; whe she won, there were no judges against her...

I might not be a Carly fan, but this routine DOES make me smile:) She may not be the greatest dancer, or the most "artistic" gymnast, but there is no denying her timing and preparation and sheer POWER on her acrobatics is just fantastic, also the music suits her routine so well. Her coach Evgeny Marchenko is a former World Champion in Sports Acrobatics, and doesnt it show in this routine:) I do love this.

yes she retired when she was 16 right after the 04 olympics due to a fatal back injury. :( but she is so succesful she is a singer now and is just as good at that! :D

It's not that she can't participate in the Olympics it's that she doesn't have a reason to. Every gymnast that preforms at the olympic level wants the all around gold, she has that-she accomplished what she worked most of her life for. Adding to that-she is 20 which is old for a gymnast considering the wear and tear gymnastics places on the body.

not really. gymnasts can perform @ age of 20. alicia sacromone(20) and chelsie memmel(20)4 the 2008 olympics. carly patterson couldnt come 2 these olympics not cuz she was 2 old, cuz they found irregular discs in her bak that prevented her from doing gymnastics about 2 years be4. when she was lyk 18, which is how old nastia liukin is.
