  • I am new to rc building, I was wondering what pushrods/horns you used for this? Thank you for this video and the help you are providing.

  • @Incindio13 I just went to my local hobby shop, got some Dubro 1/2 control horns (or you can use Popsicle sticks - check out MikeysRC for more info on that). And the pushrods are made from wire that I bought at the hobby shop too and bent for my lengths (also check out MikeysRC). If you go to MikeysRC on YouTube - watch his whole series on his Sport Trainer Build - that is where I learned my building techniques. Highly recommended!!!

  • Props on a great platform

  • @08ds Thanks! This one turned out pretty well, I am building a new one for myself right now!

  • Just got mine to fly. The first two maidens were bad due to pilot error. I really like how you can dig out the foam to place the equipment. I'm running:

    50g. 1200kv motor

    20amp ESC,

    2200 3S battery

    corona 72mhz RX

After I become more comfortable flying it, I plan on dropping in a 5.8g/200mw VTX and my cheap CCD cam.

Have you done any FPV flights with this yet? I'm interested to figure out how to land this under video.

  • @08ds That setup sounds perfect! I have been flying this FPV, just haven't made a video yet with it. Actually, I don't usually land my models flying FPV. I am usually flying in a smaller area and I want to have as much control as possible for the landing, thus I do it line of sight

  • where did you get the motor and the speed control from, dealextreme(dot)com?

  • @TheJantjewillem I got mine from rchotdeals(dot)com. Its a great site with really fast shipping!

  • @schraut5 could you tell me the specifications on the motor and esc setup?

  • @TheJantjewillem Motor: RCHotDeals 2212-13 1000 kV ~ 50 gram motor

    Prop: 10x5

    ESC: 18A

  • @schraut5 thanks and what are the specs for the battery?

  • @TheJantjewillem Battery: 2500 mAh 11.1v 3S 25C, GensAce from HobbyPartz

  • @schraut5 thank you, I went to rchotdeals com and I have found the motor/ esc combo but it looks totally different then yours could you put a link in the description for the combo?

thanks a lot for helping me out

  • @TheJantjewillem The motor is A2212/13 and it looks like they sell it with a 30 amp ESC now. The combo is $29.99 (Sorry, You can't paste links in comments)

  • What is the c.o.g measurement?

  • @MrPlanecaptain The CoG is 8.25 inches back from the front. I have a bunch of info about this plane in the info section below the video. Thanks for posting!

  • Can I use any 10x5 prop? Does it have to be counter-rotating?

    Thanks.

  • @08ds No. You can use any prop. Just make sure that the writing on the prop, which is near the hub, is always facing forward and that your motor is turning in the correct direction. But any prop will do!

  • I built this plane and love it. It's a perfect plane for FPV, light and durable. Mine did a nose dive from 300 feet in the air after I flew out of my receiver range and snapped the wing in half. After a few mins and a couple pieces of tape, I was up and flying again. love it. Check out my page to see a 48" wing I use to carry the Gopro. the design was inspired by this video.

  • @thercdentist Love your video and thanks for the credit!

  • Nick nice job! looks great! I do not under stand how to set up Program expos on my transmitter! Ailerons at 30% and elevator at 40% I did not know how to fly till OCT 2011!? so all this is new to me! I have Turnigy 9X to work with, and that's over my head!? LOL

  • @soldier53flyer1 For flying wings, expo's are essential to fly. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the Turnigy 9x or how to program it. I would head over to RCGroups and look for some help, its a great forum!

  • Very very uber plane. Hurry up and upload some FPV footage off of that. Oh and you should say that the song is Fly by Night by Rush.

  • @Jonathunor The song title should be annotated in the video info box. FPV footage with this plane coming soon!

  • Figured I would give this one a try. Have the plane built, now just waiting for the slow boat from China to bring the electronics. Will report back when it flies.

  • @asennad Awesome! Please let me know how it turns out! I have been hearing great things from people

  • man im pissed i've went to all the hardware stores in my area and i can find half inch foam

    nice delta looks good could i use a 2212-06 with a 6x4 on a 7.4 1600mah battery ?

maybe i could scale it down? hmm?maybe

thanx for showing me this vid for my dream delta

  • @RcTranMD Thanks! That motor should work just fine. Good luck finding the 1/2 inch foam!

  • The PDF's have now been added!

  • Comment removed

  • I made the same plane and did my maiden flight this morning. I picked up the same motor and speed control but I am using a 8x3.8 prop. The plane is a dream to fly. I am looking forward to seeing your flights with the fpv gear on board.

  • @awenzl Great! Yeah, I am really surprised about this plane, it flies so great! Next weekend I am hoping to get my first FPV flights with this plane!

  • would this be able to support a gopro?

  • @F16V1PER Perhaps. It could definitely carry the weight, I am just not sure yet how this wing handles with higher wing loading. If you put a GoPro up front, with a smaller battery I am sure that it would work out

  • Very clever how you arranged the plane sides to be cut on one board. Started building two of them last night and the video (dimensions you mentiond) and the pic of the layout really helped.

Question, I have the 3/4" thick pink rigid insulation board. Do you think that would be too thick for the KFM2 foil?

  • @rcjoseb Thanks! Took lots of planning. Let me know how yours turn out!

I think that the 3/4 board should be fine. KFM2 airfoils should have a thickness of 7-9% of the wing chord. This works just fine! Perhaps even better than 1/2 inch

  • @schraut5 Thanks for the info. Will have some build videos going up this weekend on my channel.

  • @rcjoseb Great! Looking forward to it

  • Really like your video's! Keep it up! /Subscribe

  • @diederio Thanks! More coming soon

  • Thanks for the vid, I am a Rush fan so good choice of music!

  • @Ahoudijk Perfect! Yeah, its a great song!

  • plz make pdfs for it great job/\

  • @justfly60482 Hoping to get some PDF's soon! If not, I am making a build video - because this plane is very easy to make. Thanks for watching!

  • What size was that battery you used to get the c.g. Right? I put on a 1600 mah 3 cell and I think I need more weight before it he first flight. I also have a 5.8 ghz fpv I hope to put on the "pink panther" as my Daughter calls it.

  • @eryn4586 I've got a 2500 mah battery up front. If you only have smaller batteries, use 2 of them and wire them together in parallel

  • Hi! Just about finished with mine! Such a fast build! Great Vids! Great Tutorials! two thumbs up! Ready for the next project!

  • @eryn4586 Great! Yeah, I try to make these as simple as possible, then days of building are not lost if something should happen. Let me know how it flies!

  • Just got back from my first flight....and last.....I may have zigged when I should have zagged but in the end it flew well. It was a little too windy and I may have beed a little tail heavy so in the end I wound up with 1/2 plane to left and 1/2 to right.......All electronics are fine so no big deal...Thanks again

  • @EflightRG Oh no! Well I hope that it flew well for you while it lasted. Thanks for posting!

  • @schraut5 It did. $2 worth of material is nothing. I may have messed up on the KF I need to start sanding the edges to get a more rounded edge rather than a chamfered edge. Oh well thanks for the plans. I will add them to my repository....

  • Built mine last night. I am going to try to fly it today. Hard to balance for CG but I think I got it. Wish me luck.

  • @EflightRG Great! Yeah, I had to use a large battery to get the CG right.

  • Looks good. Can't wait to see some clips from your FPV flights.

  • @ollanderparker Thanks! I can't wait to get flying FPV with this thing!

  • Great job and a very nice design!

  • @rcjoseb Thanks! I am really happy with this plane!

  • Building mine tomorrow.....woo hoo

  • @EflightRG Great! Send me some pics!

  • I can really appreciate making planes out of 1 20 x 30 sheet.....thanks for the video. I have 3/4 pink foam rather than 1/2 how do you think this will handle?

  • @EflightRG That should be just fine. I am glad that you can appreciate the design! It took a lot of planning to make this wing from a single sheet!

  • Nice FPV Delta 40 wing there schraut5, and flying rather nicely too

  • @JollySwagman2006 Thanks! Definitely feeling more confident flying and this stable platform helps too!

  • You got to tell me how to build , this plane is as stable as possible for a delta wing. great wing and maiden flight.

  • @BankheadRC Thanks! I am planning on making a build video soon. This plane should be able to easily carry the weight of basic FPV gear.

  • Great wing well done! these things are a blast to fly!

  • @daz28pike Thanks! Yeah, loving this plane, lots of fun

  • Nice one!

  • @BMSWEB Thanks!

  • what a great build - I'm going to hunt around B&Q for some foam now! :)

  • @MrHolozip Thanks! Love this plane. And, it would be easy to build it even lighter. This was my first version of this exact plane

  • beuatifull !

  • @JonitFR Thanks!

  • What are the fin sizes?

  • @EflightRG The base length is 6 inches and they are 6 inches high. The front fin angle is 55 degrees and the back fin angle is 65 degrees. I got the design from the F-35 after rctestflight put some similar fins on my other delta. Those specifications make sense? Thanks for watching!

  • @schraut5 perfect thanks.

  • Another Great aircraft is on my list to build. awesome build. looking forward to the build vid. thanks.

  • @coa106 This is my favorite design yet. Lots of fun to fly and should be very versatile!

  • Dig it! Glad to see you back in the air.

  • @ExperimentalAirlines I got off early on Friday and the wind was low, had to head out and fly!!

  • looking good dude...

  • @rockyFLYR Thanks man! Putting my FPV gear on this plane soon. Looking forward to seeing your second Grim Reaper. You check out the new zephyr yet? Looks amazing.

  • @schraut5 ya i have seen it i was gunna get one but got a quadcopter instead

  • love it!

  • @Don9aleh Thanks!

  • Cant wait for the PDF files.

  • @EflightRG I am going to contact a few people that have made PDF's for me in the past and hopefully they will make some new one. Regardless, this is a really easy plane to make, and it can be done with a single sheet of 20x30 foam!

  • Nice job Nick, I've been waiting to see this one. Looks like it flies great and that 450 grams is pretty impressive. Looking forward to the FPV videos.

  • @letmeplaymystrat Thanks! It would be really easy to make this plane even lighter. I am going to rebuild it here soon and hopefully drop even more weight.

  • Nice design and build!

  • @CptEagle87 Thanks!

  • Very cool, i'm going to have to make one now.

  • @F16V1PER Let me know how it goes! Loving this delta
