@labovski - Hey that was my life for two years, kids throwing rocks at me and other PCV's in the larger towns like Boghe and Aleg. Kids never did that in the villages though.
@SierraBuckeye Well, I never saw any kids throwing stones on foreigners, or other people for that matter, in towns or villages. But I never visited the south were you were.
Hissing noise? Maybe it was people going "tss, tss" which is a way of trying to get your attention instead of the otherwise usual "Monsieur" (French for Mr).
This is however not common at all in small urban areas like Atar or Chinguetti. But people are poor and of course try to get the rich foreigners attention.
Compared to for example Morocco, in my opinion Mauritania however is very relaxed and not at all pushy towards foreigners.
I just got back from Mauritania. It drove me nuts because when you go shopping people like make a hissing noise to get your attention. I heard someone in your video making that noise.
Remember Atar very well. Went up there on a street bike (VFR) from Denmark in 2009. Nice people and great place called Bab Sahara...

@mhoeyadventure That's a long ride. :) How did your bike cope with all the dust from the desert?

That's Mauritania all right! Where are the kids throwing rocks at the "Nazarani"?

@SierraBuckeye There are no kids throwing rocks. Who said anything about that?

glad you liked it. :) just put the camera next to your head, and walk...
I used a Fujufilm Finepix F11, which is small hand-held digital camera with video option.
Atar by the way is a really nice small desert town with very friendly people. well worth a visit.
