  • Hey, uhh, I want this gun, but I am worried about reliability. does it jam much? How would u compare its jams to an M4? Also, some ppl say to use metal cheap military mags, other say use PMAGS or plastic mags... WHAT DO I DOOO!?

Did u mod it for reliability?

  • @SuperSneakySniper My SU-16C runs 100% reliable...no problem with metal mags or plastics zero malfunctions.

  • @DocTacDad you know why? Gas Piston > Direct Impingement...

  • @SuperSneakySniper use the mags that come with the carbine. if you need more mags or extended mags look the carbine up on the internet. That's what I did and I haven't had it jam on me yet and it trust it with my life. You take care of the carbine and the carbine will take care of you.

  • Great gun, shot one myself at the range this weekend. Fellow let me squeeze off a few rounds in exchange for my .308.....you have a very nice piece of land behind you let me tell ya. Is that pond fishable? I've gotta know...lol

  • utility rifle, not a battle rifle. I'm lookin at the plastic around the barrel... I don't think mine will survive if I ran three 30rd mags through it in 5 minutes...

  • @R5H4D0W I wouldn't think it'd survive either... but umm I don't know many that could. If an M4 could, it would barely do so. Plus, even in a battle, the only application of having that much firepower is suppression. If ur using it for a SHTF/zombie type gun, you wouldn't be suppressing anyone, you would shoot what u can and get out of there. Well, that's just what I'd think about th use of this gun in a combat scene.

  • Doc a buddy and I are going back and forth about this gun, so I looked it up and I found your vid on it. Man I'm sold for sure.

  • one thing ive noticed about mine is that it gets hot pretty fast and cools off very slow.

  • @joeddamage1 I've noticed that about mine too. It gets hot pretty quick, like after the 20th round if I fire fast enough, and if I immediately load another magazine it gets so hot the &%$#@ barrel smokes. Then it takes like 10 min to cool down. LAME!! Do AR's have similar heat problems?? This is my first rifle, a poor man's AR.

  • @onetaothree no, ARs dont get nearly as hot, the reason behind this is because the rifle is made of polymer VS the full metal AR, which is better heat dispersion. one alternative that may work (we havent tried this on my buddy's SU16C yet, even though he has the part) is to buy the "tactical fore end assembly" that KelTec sells as a mod for the SU16C. i only suggest this because if you open the tripod before firing, the barrel stays a whole lot cooler.

  • @kjs89 Yeah I just installed that tactical forend last Friday but haven't shot with it yet. But you're right that's another thing I noticed is that the tripod forend (which pretty much everyone hates) was enclosing the barrel, and the part of the barrel covered by the tripod forend got a lot hotter a lot quicker. I'm hoping the tactical forend mitigates this.

  • @onetaothree Well I know my issued M4 never gets that hot or barrel smokes and I've fired it a lot faster than I do my Kel-tec.

  • @joeddamage1 is it the C model?

  • fun fun fun fun fun

  • 40 rds through what looks like a 30 rd magpul. Impressive

  • @C172Pilotdude 40 Rds total through the gun...smart alec...LOL

  • Thanks for posting videos on the su-16.

  • takes standard AR mags?

  • @willwood487 Yep!

  • that thing looks like it weights 3 pounds!

  • @lskw1 4.7lbs which is very lightweight!

  • @DocTacDad 5.5lbs!

  • @DocTacDad

They do have a little bite for only being a .223

    I've been feeding mine 5.56 XM193.

  • Very cool. Take care and have a great day.

  • Nice! Couple of questions: 1. Can you fire that bad boy folded? 2. Did you you hit anything????

  • Nice. That would make a nice little pack rifle.

  • Congrats on the gun! I was so tossed about which rifle to purchase. I went with the saiga 7.62x39. Have fun bro!

  • Is the su-16 chambered .223 or 5.56?

  • @Kliffton415 5.56x45 NATO...you can shoot both in this gun....I was shooting South African 55gr NATO Ball in this video.

  • nice gun cant wait till im 18

  • have you seen the new kel tec shotgun?

  • @stone4451 Yep, looks pretty cool.

  • Good times.

  • Right-on doc! Jeez, I sure like watching the SU-16's do their job. What a great little rifle.

  • Kel Tec has really come out with some winners over the last year. Definitely a worthy contender in firearms manufacturing now.

  • Nice! It's just gotten so damn expensive !

  • @MyHollowpoint Yep, about .35-45 cents a trigger pull...but very fun!

  • Sick DTD !

  • Boy I've been eying these SU-16's! I just can't decide what's next, shotgun, rifle, or another pistol. Maybe when i win your contest I'll be able to decide, LOL.

  • @conleytgn I'm impressed thus far...look for the full review in a couple of weeks.

  • to much fun ,, good video

  • good stuff

  • Do it to it brother!!

  • Nice to see you reppin the KelTec! What kind of mags are you running, and do you like them?

  • @ZombieTactics I tested both standard GI mags and Magpul pmags with it today. In the video, I'm shooting a pmag. I absolutely love the pmag my favorite thus far. Both functioned flawlessly today. I was quite impressed with the SU-16c...this was my first time out with it and I walked away impress...I need to put some rounds on paper with it now.

  • @longbone4 5.56x45 NATO South African Ball 55gr

  • Cool.
