  • Köszönöm szépen! Ha csak az élvezet kedvéért hallgatom, akkor is nagy élmény.

Az, hogy egy remek jazz oktatásban lehetett részem, az a másik nagy boldogság. Köszönöm!

  • AMAZING, I love the intro, my absolute favorite, but it keeps it's deepness, thank you!

  • Beautiful! :)

  • @cosmicjazzer sorry I do not dislike your comment, i pressed the button accidently

  • This is incredibly useful! Thanks so much! :)

  • BRAVO! the magic of disney is with you. can you send me the partitura please? thank you

  • Flawless

  • superb!!!!

  • This is wonderful!

  • You have really nice chords!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. Very very impressive

  • That beginning of your tune sounds like the Chick Corea/Herbie Hancock version from the two piano records. Am I totally off?

  • I wish you lived in florida so you could be my piano teacher. Your so good. I've seen a million of your videos. Is there anything at all that contains this kind of theory and instruction. Please let me know. Thankx

  • If i could learn how to play this i will die a happy person!

  • ditto.. ditto.. lol

  • I loved this song on Buddy Rich's CD "No Funny Hats"..

Your version was also very nice.

  • Very good teaching by analysis. Hopefully someone does the same thing on saxophone. As a sax player, I am impressed with wat you do. Thank you!

  • You are a pretty good jazzpiano-teacher ;)

This tuesday I'm getting my first real (jazz-)piano-lesson. But I already taught myself some (jazz-)piano, I'm playing for a half year now, and your knowledge helped my progression in playing jazz on piano.

  • Splendid!

  • You are brilliant! thanks

  • Doug, great track as usual.

However is this tune sometimes called "Some Day My Prints Will Come". Although maybe that does not apply in this digital age.

Still like "Variations on a Theme".

    We did enjoy your visit.

Mature age friends on the Gold Coast.

  • cool as hell

  • Hi Doug, any chance you know The Sweetest Sound by Rodgers and Hart? A beautiful song, and a favorite, but I can't find a piano solo. A few very bad vocals. If you have the time, it's a great song and would love to hear you play it. Thank you.

  • Would you mind telling me if you're using Band in a Box, by any chance, for the bass and drums?

I just recently started using it over my Yamaha PSR 3000 keyboard (let's me use full clavier of 88key Roland).

Nice switch over to 3/4ths, I've got to start finding the guts to do that myself =D.

Please do check out the few things I've recorded, I should get to recording another piece tomorrow or so.

    -Vayshen

  • 3/4ths? you mean 3/4 dont you as in three crotchet beats in a bar?

  • Man, I just discovered you on the Tube. Great stuff. I really like the bass line on this tune, is it available? I play vibes and would like to work up this tune to put on the Tube. Thanks for info.

  • Lose the mindless intro, please, but the rest of it is quite enjoyable and in good taste.

  • Eldar Djangirov starts his version of "Lady Wocks" like You start this tune...

  • Just a little correction to your good job, at 3:35 (if I' m not wrong) about, the LH voicing you play is a Bb7(#9) instead of a b9 as you wrote. Cheers

  • You are absolutely right! By the way, I liked your videos - especially the Happy Birthday reharmonisation!

  • No it's a Bb7(#9). It's just inverted differently. Nice job, Doug.

  • Best thing about this guy - all the notes he puts on his videos! Please keep it up! Can learn alot from you.

  • I love every song you've done. You often comment on the moves of your right hand. Tell us about the left hand too.

  • very beautiful, would it be too much to ask you to post an your version of "on green dolphin street"? if you could i'd appreciate it. thanks.

  • some classical player can't do these

    you are great

  • That first phrase is from eldar jangirov!!! literally!

    It's still a great performance though :)

  • Well spotted! I keep beside my piano a blank manuscript book in which I note down any ideas that catch my attention when listening to jazz. I can then notate them, or analyse them, and most importantly absorb them. I have filled a number of books with these jazz 'ideas' over the years, and many are not actual licks - rather rhythmic/harmonic/melodic/stylistic ideas that often can be applied in other situations. This one was a fairly literal intro idea that, I noted he did on 'Nature Boy'

  • Interestingly, he used this intro (idea) on both versions of 'Nature Boy' I have. One with a trio, and another solo version he did when on Marion McPartland's 'Piano Jazz' show. I guess its what we all do - 'steal' (or adapt) ideas from other performers - even from past performances of our own!

  • Can you brake that change down what you did at 1:08?

  • Go to the enhanced Youtube version and you can see clearly what is happening - using the whole tone scale (the one with G in it) as augmented triads (1,3 and sharp5) descending in whole steps. There is a full transcription on my DVD. Go to my website for details

  • Thanks!

  • Stunning ^_^

I love that Cm7 4th arpeggio and that phrase with the chromatic lead into the chords. I really wonder how you think of these things. 5 stars

  • thats just sublime!

  • love your touch ,plz. keep on posting o

one can learn a lot from you

    Thanks

  • Doesn't get any better then this!
