  • hey mr. roberts, how do you determine how much weight to use. i am 6'5'' and only 204. my nutrition is stellar and I am just trying to put on more muscle weight. how do i gain more muscle mass but still have the endurance i require for my mma training.

  • @OdStGeNeRaLs This is the original grapplers circuit from when Randy was at Team Quest. Weight will depend on your size and strength level but I recommend starting low and progressing up for two reasons, 1) the circuit, if done correctly 6 rounds with no more than 60 secs. rest is brutal and fatigue doesn't really set in until round 4 or 5. 2), to master the movements and the flow. If you do this right, you will be dragging afterwards but it's a great workout.

  • Hi, I'm from 15 and from Scotland, I'll be 16 soon and when i turn 16 i plan to start getting into body building, currently im 6ft tall and wigh about 15 stone, i'm stronger than all my friends and my question is, doing this workout, 3 sets, 3-4 times a week, how long do you reckon it would take before i started seeing noticable changes in body size and strength..?

  • @frankcruz69 Probably once per week...supplement it with your other workouts... All depennds on your goals and what you are training for.

  • whats up!! hey a guy commented and asked "how much weight should be used?" , okay , randy couture uses 95 pounds in his video . but me, since im smaller, i use 65 pounds and burns me out after 3 rounds ( 1 min break in between) and i get good conditioning from it.

  • @lilgoalieman Deadlift works almost your entire body but mostly lower back and legs, it helps to have strong legs and lower back if your gonna complete a double leg.

  • Bas Rutten's All round fighting DVD. There are other DVD's in his MMA workout package but that one is the hardest because it's simulating a fight you'll be huffin' & puffin', hope this helps

  • @Thisisyourmomsname actualy most of your punching power comes from your hips and legs as well as the rotation of the shoulder.You can get alot more power in a punch just from using better technique

  • The squats are supposed to be squat, to military press, not just normal squats. Other than that, pretty impressive to do it with 25 lbs. plates. The most I have ever done that workout to proper time is 20 lbs. on each side.

    Yes, just try with the 45 lb. Olympic Bar. Be sure to warm up before, plenty of of stretching both before and after. Please be sure to be hydrated as well, as you will be losing a lot of water. Personally, my hamstrings are really sore after this. For the first couple times, trust me, advil is your friend. Good luck.

    There are several workouts that will increase your overall conditioning. Check out some of Bas Rutten's workouts, the Magic 50, work capacity 101, any cross fit workouts, etc. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, either were guys like GSP. Momentum is the key, not necessarily one workout, but stringing many good workouts together.

  • If I can normally flat chest press 65lb dumbells, overhead press 45lb dumbells, shrug 65 lb dumbells, and bicep concentration curl 35lb dumbells, leg press 500lbs, all for 10 reps. How much weight should I use on a barbell for this workout?

  • remember it's not about doing heavy, it's about completeing the entire workout for 6 total sets... you should start with no more than 4 sets though... i wouldn't do anything heaviwe than the bar and a 10 pounder on each side

    what i suggest is just take a few days of lifting using a certain set weight if u can get throu 5 sets all perfect good form and not tired raise them and if till raise the weight... :/ just make sure the workout is a perfect 5 set workout and make sure theres enough weight on there for a workout :) probly alredy know this its common sence :/

  • should be because you have to stabilize the weights more. Also your dominate side can't help your weaker side. I could be wrong tho

  • yep because you have to concentrate and use ur muscles to stabilize the dumbbells instead of one barbell

  • no it is not the barbell holds more weight. and requires 13% more effort!

  • Dumbells is more difficult because your muscles have to focus on balancing the weight along with lifting it. That is why someone who can barbell bench press around 315 lbs could probabale only do 110 lb dumbells.

  • we did the workout at our mma gym with little variations and instead of 6 set we did 5 but one minute with each workout and a min break. it was killer could not even make a fist after holding the bar for that long. killer workout great for punching power.

  • Great workout, the original workout is done with good mornings and a squat to a push press. He would perform 6 circuits with one minute rest in between each circuit. For individuals with no experience with these movements this is a great variation. UFCFan the reason there is no bench press is because punching power comes primarily from the generation of force through the legs and torso in a standing position, hence all movements are closed chain. Nice work Funk!

  • I did this for 8 moths and the squat + press is not a good idea. My neck started to feel bad. I read a lot about this and it is not recommended to push from behind the head.
