@holyjudgement85 I once thought that. I first had a 3512 being pushed by a fosgate type rfx7c and was pretty loud with only 1000 watts. My power hx2 was louder with 1000 watts in the same 2.5 cubic box. Now I am using 1 ten 1510 hooked up to the same amp in a 1.5 box tuned to 34 hz. It is amazing how much clean output is coming from 1 ten. it is louder than my 2 type r tens (in a prefab ported box) and sound ten times better.

That is if he got into that far, more than likely he measured constricting spaces(such and between the wheel well) or maybe just wanted it to go all the way across. The effective cone area for your common 12" woofer is about 11 inches, 5.5" radius, 95.59 sqin, 191.18 for both, that's over 20% more active surface area. Just adding surface area isn't the whole point. Ever heard of excursion? One 12" sub with 2" Xmax equals two 12" subs with 1" Xmax.
