In South Africa, Volcom is a joke. The reason being that in Afrikaans, one of the 11 official languages, vol means full and com is an alternate spelling for kom, which means male ejaculation. Just though I might share this.
Here's a fun fact, while I was really bored yesterday I decided to run some numbers. I compared the military population of the countries, China, America and Australia, with their total population. What I found was that China was trailing per capita. Sure they have the largest army in the world but it only makes up for 0.2% of their population. America lead with 0.36% and Australia was a happy 2nd with 0.26%. At least it's not as bad as the Israelis, <50% of their population availalble!
although theres no way of escaping conforming (well all do it subconciously every single day), the only way to non-conform is to make a conscious decision not to follow the crowd every now and then
Yeah...but you still have to realize that you're basing your actions and decisions on what the "crowd" does. If you oppose them, you're defined in part by your opposition to them. To be really non-conforming, you should do whatever you already would have done anyway, even if it means you end up conforming?

actually..there is a way to escape conformity.
its called "not worrying about conforming".
its just being who you are and doing what you like and leaving the labeling to other folks who find that sort of thing necessary.
