  • WEAM-AM in Arlington, VA was playing this record back in 1970. I remember listening to it

while skipping class. I liked it alot...always wondered what happened to this song..

thanks for posting this little gem !!

  • @lightningbug2011 Hey I bet you smoked stolen cigarettes while skipping class:-) Glad to assist with the memory.

  • This single reached #62 in the USA over a seven week chart run starting March 21, 1970. First time I heard it on the air I ran out and bought a copy. A college freshman at the time looking for, among other things, my life partner, this song really hit home.

  • @horarwgt Thats interesting as I didn't know how well this record did in the USA. I have added it to the info. Thanks for your contibution

  • Great sound!

  • gracias por subirlo y gracias a los RHONDELS

  • The beginning sounds just a tiny bit like Archies' "Sugar Sugar" via Bobby Bloom. What a cool song! I have the Greatest Hits LP pictured--I should dig it up and discover the rest of the tracks.

  • This song got a lot of air play back when I was in Junior High. Too bad The Rondels don't get any air play on the oldies stations. Theses oldies stations have a play list of the same songs and I have gotten so tired of songs like: "Brown Eyed Girl" "Satisfaction" and "Everyday People" They just don't get it!

  • @marstonmoor9 It's on youtube: Lejos de ti_Los Mitos,uploaded by senshimilla.Enjoy!

  • There is a beautiful rendition in Spanish by Los Mitos under the title "Lejos de ti".

  • @ilugo54 Can you post a link if it's on the tube here, thanks.

  • Among the top 5 of my all-time favorites. It's unbelievable that this wasn't a worldwide smash. But it isn't the only song in that category, from 1970. View the youtube video of 'Flower Garden' by Nick Lampe. This song passed almost unnot-iced, except in Melbourne, Australia, where it got good airplay, reached No.16 and then faded.

How could this happen to songs as good as these?

  • @rjemca This song got quite a bit of airplay in Sydney at the time and I also don't understand why it wasn't a hit. As you listen to their other music here it's seems to be a quite a change from the bands usual sound. The marriachi trumpets do it for me:-). It's one of those songs I always come back to.

That Nick Lampe song you mention is no longer available here. I don't recall having heard that song.

  • sooooo glad that i found it.....was searching for this song for a g e s

  • OMG Is it really this beautiful song TY

  • nice song thanks for sharing =D
