  • If slice too long lay on side and trim to desired length. TIP: I also need cubed onion to make stuff. Lay the intact onion slice piece on its side and simple cut down and get cubes! Or chop if you want them minced! BTW Jolene I may not visit often but I do think your an amazing person! Your job of teaching comedy to students when you know you could be in Hollywood shows your real dedication and your great love for your craft. Take Care.

  • I cut red onions at my job for salads this way. NEVER cry or bleed! Put them in the cooler for half an hour. DO NOT wash the onions it makes them slippery! Wear disposable laytex gloves! Use a dollar store rubber handle Chef Knife. Cut ends off. Peel. Slice down thick cut. Lay slice flat. Pop out middle and discard. (alot of cry root gas if you cut it) Cut circle in half. DO NOT seperate layers! This keeps onion fresh and moist! If slice too thick stand piece up and cut. NOT TOO THIN!

  • yep, you were scaring me with the bread knife. i've always heard put a matchstick between your teeth so you will breathe thru your mouth instead of nose. moar bloopers please

  • u said root sack

  • I'll be darn. I never knew about the root thing. You look so cute!

  • For a quick knife sharpener, use the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup to hone the knife (the very bottom part that's not covered with glaze). I learned that from a knife maker. Works a treat.

  • I have the worst problem with cutting onions and my eyes burning like there's no tomorrow. My only solution is to wear a diving mask. Seriously.

  • @JummahFilms , I should do that, too! Someone told me to put a piece of bread in my mouth and boy was that a waste.

  • LOL Me too! I thought I was the only one to do this. It works!

  • you should turn one of your burners on and chop near it, the flames eat the onion air.

  • If you cut onions after drinking a case of beer your eyes will never tear up. Of course you may cut your fingers off, but you won't care! Nice vids Jolene!

  • They say keeping the onions in the fridge is suppose to help make them tear-free, although it helps, I still get teary eyed. The best trick for me is to run a fan so that the onion fumes are drawn away from you. It's worked the best of all the tricks and tips I've seen. I learned it here on Youtube! ;)

  • also try runiing cold water over the onion.

  • i need to try the bread because when I chop up onions the tears burn so much! Thanks jolene.

  • I remember this! I'm adding it to my facebook page :-)

  • Ahahaha...your so cute sugar!

  • I've never tried that 3 cut thingie to peel an onion. Will do it next time.

Yeah, I think the bread trick works. But, you need a nice crusty italian bread, not that Wonder stuff.

Another remedy is to keep the the trailer park kitchen sink running while you cut your onions.

And last, but not least, sharpen that butter knife...

  • Yeah, you're supposed to put the breadslice between your teeth to keep your mouth parted. Really, you don't need the breadslice, but it helps, because otherwise, you might close your mouth, like if you're talking your mouth closes when making certain sounds like p's and m's. Also, it makes you breathe through you mouth instead of your nose which makes the onion's vapor come closer to the eyes. Either that, or it's like a sheild to protect your eyes from the onion juice squirting when you cut it.

  • lolol thanks jolene

  • Scary is the word.. :)

  • Hahaha! I never heard of the bread in the mouth trick. Did it keep your mascara from runnin'?

Funny bloopers, and it's good that you finished with all of your fingers still attached. I use the Graham Kerr method of onion slicing, and I do a finger count when I'm done, just to be sure they're all still there.

I'd hate to put one in a casserole.....

  • I loved the outro song hehe It did kinda scare me see you chopping those onions, but I'm glad to see there was no blood shed ;)

  • hahahaha

  • lol...loved it

  • Is that you singing? Do you sing your own theme song? Did you just throw the bread on the floor? LOL

None the less I like both of them.

  • Oooh,I've never heard that theme song before..I MUCH prefer the current one - the one on here sounds so mean and you're so damn fantastic Jolene!! Love Ya!

  • lol, love the knife skills..

omg and the wrist bands : )

    **Kisses**
