No matter how much you want to defend this game over Halo. You have to remember that both games where released on the same year (Marathon and ONI) and not even half of the Halo gamers know what ONI is as it was cast in Halo's dominating shadow.

@theemporour Nothing behind it. Oni was completely original (though somewhat inspired by the original Appleseed and Ghost In The Shell movies). The story itself? Wholly original, and bloody amazing.

Oni is one of Bungie's greatest games. And the gameplay was pretty great, too.

Oni was one of those games that was, and practically is... unique. I may not be the most intense gamer out there, but I have not yet found a game that tried drawing in on the concept of combining both gunfire and martial arts as well as Oni did. If only someone can build on this, much less Bungie, then there can be some serious progress made in games. The anime Konoko is hot too!

Bungie will work on it after halo:reach from what i heard. Microsoft is taking over halo series to make a Pc halo 3 and maybe continue series. Microsoft is just going to pay bungie to keep some rights to it. And Bungie is going to go back to working on games such as Oni zero.

my tactics in this game are to sprint in circles around the enemy and jump kick and jump flip them, this game is so hard i really cant imagine any other way of doing it. ive completed this game on hard twice using this tactic. hopefully when bungie FINALLY give up halo (like theyve said several times already ffs) theyll make ONI 2

I soo agree with you in the sense that the stupid fanboys EAT UP everything halo. I mean Halo 1 was great, 2 was a letdown, 3 just take the best elements of 1 but again more of the same, and ODST "omg we got firefight so new!! *fanboy snort". MS is smart for marketing a product that's a 60$ expansion pack and the idiots eat it all up. Now ONI was something fresh and different as well as very challenging. I had so much fun with this game in early ps2 days and wouldn't mind seeing a pt 2.

This game was COOL, HARD, amazingly life-like(anime style of course) and I had the time of life playing this many years ago. Got this game for my b-day, and I kept playing it multiple times over. Especially the Baraba's Fight(Stronger.........Stronge­r.........!!!!! Hahahah -I Miss that large power charging freak) and the end fight. Oni was my first game that used the keyboard and mouse combo. This is a classic game, it had the most simplistic, fluent, realistic and addictive combat fighting style than an other game. The guys from Bungie should know there are many ppl that want to see Konoko/Mai again, because this game really had great potential to extend even further from its predecessors. I was disappointed the multiplayer was canceled.

Oni is superb game,its like mix of so much good things.For example if ur anime fan ur gonna love it so much,it has deus ex elements in it(dark atmosphere, cyberpunk future and conspiracy),it has max payne elements(3rd person gun shootouts, without bulletime),and reminds on matrix so much,specially when konoko wears sunglasses and black leather,and there is hand to hand combat which has elements from 3d fighting games like tekken,u can play game by sneaking(solid snake style) or gunblazing.

Oh if only Bungie still had the rights. I mean Master Chief is cool, but he can't disarm his foe's Van De Graaft Pistol, fire it on its former user, then do a backbreaker. He also can't reverse kick throw a ninja off a skyscraper. Konoko is also much easier on the eyes.

Personally I think Oni was a great game, the few con's aside. I'd love to see Bunge release a remake of it with smoother graphics, more moves, levels, guns and maybe even a multiplayer function. There is still a lot of potential for this game.

The one you see in the intro, is drawn by one artist.

Someone else worked on the in-game Konoko which is rendered by the game graphic engine.

Anway, I prefer the in-game Konoko... ;)
