  • I (finger) gripped like this today for the first time in Madison, WI (it's a super-warm 50 degrees out : ) I topped off at first try; then I launched and landed 4 feet from the hole on a par 3 - excellent. No slice at all!!! Wow did it feel weird through.

  • i dont interlock or overlap i find it most comfortable just to have both hands side by side.

  • @jpjp9899 it feels wierd but if you get used to it you will never go back, i recommend trying to get used to it

  • I dont see the comfort of putting my right hand on top of left thumb

  • @MellowCruisin you dont have to have the same grip as the rest of ur clubs

  • my mate holds his like a baseball grip.. and i interlock my grip and I'm off 10.2 and he's off bloody scratch!! both 20 yr old ha ha

  • while paying attention to the details in my grip today, i developed a blister in the middle of my thumb (of course I hit over 100 golf balls at the range, so that may have been it) - my question is - Is the blister from the amount of balls I hit or my grip?

  • @KenBrewster1977 I would say that your grip is too tight if you're following the grip in this video.

  • I cant see most of the video on the hands because the words in the video are in the way.

  • Penis

  • Here's how I grip the club; Place the club on the ground with your left hand. When you put you left hand on on the grip(see about 2 knuckles); Make sure clubhead leading edge is still square(not slightly closed or open). Place right hand on club(very lightly) again checking that clubhead is not closed or open. Set-up to ball, making sure once again that the clubhead is still square to target line; swing away!!

  • subtitles block sight of the grip in wide angle shots

  • nope.

  • to hit a long drive u have to be built like a brick shit house!

  • Nah...good timing....

  • @MeatloafTribute1 no youd ont , i hit it average around 280+ and im like 9 1/2 stone its just i time my swing with my body

  • I notice his right thumb doesnt sit right on the handle but rather the right index finger holds the handle more by putting it in the trigger position.I gotta try that. I notice my right thumb gets very bruised up because im not doing that and that may be holding me back

  • yeah or just get your swing going, talking about technique..

  • this video didnt really show the differences between grips and longer drives, only showed one grip and didnt hit any balls to compare them, put a new title on it saying " LET ME WASTE YOUR TIME" muppet!

  • bobmaguto....I'm completely wrong? Maybe you should read my post again. I said the grip WAS important. But there is so many other reasons why some people do not hit the ball wrong. If you haven't got your grip figured out you shouldn't even bother watching this particualar video. Watch a video on how to have a proper grip. You starting to catch on?

  • The grip is important but has little to do with hitting your drives longer.

  • Completely incorrect, considering a poor grip could cause slices and hooks. Those alone cause you to lose distance.

  • Completely incorrect? lol. Read my post again. I said the grip IS important, but there are 3 main types of grips. This video only shows you one. It's whatever works for an individual. Slices and hooks can make you lose distance? Gee, no kidding. But there are a number of reasons why someone may hit a slice or a hook even with a perfect hand grip.

    Do some homework.

  • yikes!

  • my dad has a burner

  • If my left eye were dominate I would play right handed. Vise versa on right eye dominant.

  • Go to a driving range and grab both left hand and right hand clubs. If you can play right as well as left, go with righthanded.. getting clubs and equipment is much more available.. especially used. Take a lesson too.. knowing how to play Hockey is not to your benefit, totally different swings and you'll be totally screwed up. No Happy Gilmore at the Driving Range either.

  • yeah, okay the grip is fundamental but I think somebody at that level of ability should stick to a short iron before moving onto anything else, especially a driver.

  • Hopefully it'll make you never want to write bitter, pointless shit on Youtube again you twat.

  • lol i agree with weezer91101

  • wow you're cool.

  • that was a general "grip" lesson ffs. how was that specific to the title, 'hitting a long drive'?. thx for wasting my time dolt

  • the video title is "golf grip for improving your drive".

  • Its an important part of golf. The grip is the shizzle sma chizzle. I'm goin pro now.
