The "high" surf appears to be just an extremely high tide. It's coming all the way up to the sea wall. Big waves on a regular tide wouldn't normally do that. Look at all the kelp!

Storm off Mexico. I've seen waves over that pier a foot or two. And yes, there are sharks there. I used to catch Leopard Sharks there to eat. Late one night, a huge Hammer Head came up to the peir and started chewing muscles off the pylons. It was way cool. He was an awesome fish. In no time, there were 40 or 50 people watching. Some drunk guys were playing around and climbing outside the rail. We were hoping one would fall in so we could have a real show!

I was there in 09, and actually saw a yeti walking on that very pier. It was amazing. Wait, It might have just been a hairy homeless guy but I am pretty sure it was a Yeti.

@wogbasha machines are there to save the beach, if not the beach would be gone, there is a 15 foot high sand berm going the whole length of the beach to the jetty to keep the water from flooding my home. Yesterday waves rolled on to the top of the berms but the sand kept the waves in check, yesterday OB was 15 foot and real sloppy
