I like the animation but the battle scene was rubbish. Sorry. Tanks just don't sit and wait to be blasted. I think I'd have enjoyed it better if the entire battle had been handled in a bit more realstic way. The German Spider Tank is obviously slow and ponderous and Shermans were fairly agile. You might want to consult some military historians or even present day infantrymen and tank men on this. Great concept though and the acting was actually well done.

Yeah that's it, shoot small arms at the giant steel nazi spider.. they probably made it from canvas and twigs anyway. 3:20 woops backblast! no worries, I'm immune!
Come on guys.. How do we kill a spider?
Giant newspaper Sir!?!
Good one, but not what I had in mind... I meant the FUN way to kill a spider.
Cool, the germans win in a battle against America. Because apparently they suk at fighting and like to run Suicide missions. And American tanks are somehow portable nuclear launchers and their soldiers are invincible. It's about time thier tanks got melted!
Well done, but I thought the ray gun was a bit much. Nazi Germany was advanced enough for their time without that nonsense. The timing was a bit too forced on some deliveries of the dialogue. I also agree with RobotN001, that perhaps a little more research could have gone into this work. A great movie does not ride on special effects.
@Anthrolithos If I was trying to make a realistic portrayal of WWII battle tactics, I'd be inclined to agree with you. But this is nothing more than a comic book movie. If you want realism, watch the History Channel.
@ryannagata Well put, but I was just offering constructive criticism in general, not necessarily just about the tactics. I have no idea what your intentions were with this work, or where you intend to go in the future with films. I was just trying to get you into a discussion so that you can avoid being relegated to the status of "campy b-movie director", if it is indeed your goal to be a director one day.
@ryannagata Yes I do. The very concept of Captain America is very campy. I mean, regardless of the money people throw at it, it is still cheap entertainment.
@Anthrolithos You don't understand what camp is then. John Waters is camp. The 60's Batman TV show is camp. Just because something isn't grounded enough in reality for your taste doesn't mean it's camp.

@Anthrolithos actually the japanese had begun work on a so-called death ray by 1945.ironically they deverted funds from theyre atomic weapons project to develope the death ray instead.needless to say the death-ray project was never completed but had they been able to complete it, no doubt the nazis would have adopted it into theyre arsonel.so even though its a stretch i find it believable that the nazis might have actually built this thing had things turned out differently
@ciscokidseven Mmh. I have no idea if what you're saying is true, but the Japanese and the Nazis were *allies*, not friends. Even if the Japanese had developed this Death Ray tech, there is no guarantee that they would have shared it with the Third Reich. I'm sure the Japanese were well aware of the racial proclivities of Hitler and kept him at arms length.
This is on a different scientific aspect, but if Hitler had been assassinated early on, there were scientists and generals just waiting to unleash mass production of weapons that could have made a huge difference. They had jet powered fighters built as prototypes that could easily outrun any of the allied planes. They had rockets that were being upgraded, and they were closer to an A-bomb then the US. His generals were opposed to the Russian campaign, they knew they needed to protect the coast.
@ ryannagata - did u get the idea for the german spider tank from sup com ? :P AWESOME FUCKING MOVIE - how did u do this ?!?!?! im a student film maker and im amazed , what was the budget ???
loooooooooooooooool :D only americans can have that kind of imagination spider tanks right... why not... your not vunrable from any direction like that...
Very impressive work!! I agree with Kellythesinger, in that I'd like to see this made into a full length movie too. It doesn't have to be 2 hours long, (though that would be cool). It can be either a "Short" or a "What if" type of story.
As a low budget concept and of course Nazi's with sci fi weapons, I love it. And you had David Clennon as the General! The Best.
As a real (not hater) critique, the viewport window of the mech is way too big. I know you need to show the actor and has to be big but look at Panzer designs and they would be narrower and when the fighting started, it would have been closed and the officer would be looking through the slit. The bazooka & 50 Cal. easily could have put rounds through that open hatch.
The story line well maybe not the greatest understandable that you only have a few minutes. But the special effects were of a high production quality and authenticity of uniforms and equipment was very well done. I have watched made for sci fi movies that were not half a good.
This is actually really cool. I like the details on the Nazi walker and the models work great overall. My personal favorite was the flamethrower. I'd like to see more of this stuff!
Come on, haters, let's see you do one better on a shoestring budget. It's a film experiment aimed at seeing what can be done without the funds for commercial class CGI. I like it and encourage Mr. Nagata to keep at it. This is how film technique changes in ways allowing for a greater creative output across the board. Kudos!
Wow, nice job on blending the 1/6 in with the real stuff. Only thing I don't understand, is why you have the figures in the M5 sitting out with the hatch open...why would they do that if they're in a combat zone?
This is a cool movie but the trailer lacks. Has anyone gotten wind of the new book THE ICE GORILLA. I read that producers are looking to take THE ICE GORILLA book to the big screen. Does anyone have the details.???.?
@33Artur333 Depends on the tank and the machine gun. If I'm going to pick a big flaw out of this movie, it is the lack of infantry support for the "spider". Too many ways a vehicle can get disabled if you let the enemy grunts get too close.

It just makes one wonder, "Why don't they just make the entire thing via CGI?" Not everything has to be in front of green screen.
Amazing work combining the models with superb visual effects!
THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING!!! im begging you to make a full movie about it. dont cut corners like those crappy low budget scifi movies do, keep your animation exactly as is. this is brilliant! the best thing is that the nazis were very close to this kinda stuff.
This could work as a comedy but not as a drama. There is only so much sillyness the human mind can absorb. Why not give the Nazis light Sabers while you're at it.
@jujufactory Yeah I said those verysame words when Western troops went and said oh we kick Talibans ass and when Israeli troops saying we' ll wipe out the hezbollah in lebanon...the result US troops got their asses whipped by the Taliban and Israel got their underwear in a twist betewwn thier legs running around... still crying to this day.
Excellent job with editing and special effects. I like the use of models (good old school stuff). Still the film could use a better script - GIs shooting a tank with rifles and machine guns (inc. Captain with its trusty .45)? Perhaps it could do better as some tongue and cheek stuff. No Nazi superweapon could not turn the tide of the war in 1945, just stall the inevitable - Russians were knocking at Berlin's gates at that time. Anyway it's still a great vid :) Thanks for posting!
This is a great opener for a spy adventure type movie: or a great opener for a G.I. robot movie. If you don't what G.I. robot is goto DC Comics website and find out he's cool.
Excellent work Ryan, imagine if you had a real budget, oh what fun you would have. I love the story line, yes an alternative to the end of 1945 with Hitler bringing out the big gun projects...but wait a min, he already did it, the flying bomb, the V1 and V2 rockets, ufo's, and a stealth bomber. Heck he nearly had an A-bomb ready to put into the new super fast stealth bomber and aimed at N.Y.

Excellently done (ESPECIALLY for a small budget!) There was only (maybe) 1 cheesy line and/or shot. Otherwise, F%$#ing BRAVO.
The effects (special and otherwise) were very professionally done and very believable; and not too over-the-top or over-done.
Subtitles for the German officer's lines might add a touch; but, there really isn't anything that could make this better (cæteris paribus.)
Cinematography/Director's camera angle, et cætera -- all choice!
Outstanding!!
