  • This is great! Please do some more of there but please show the pattern very slow at least once. I had to slow down the video to see it. :)

  • dam that sounds really good..but man u need to slow down if u tryna teach us.

  • requinto and quinto,

  • joebean14 the combination are requinto an

  • Thanks for this. You're explanations and technical examples are really really good.

  • Very Nice man, sounds are perfect.

  • quinto and conga? Any info to offer on proper tuning and/or how to determine whether a drum is a conga vs. quinto?

  • typical Salsa tuning is often G for the Tumba and C for the Conga (any guesses out there on the Quinto?).

That tuning give a fat tone on the Conga and the notes are compatible in many arrangements.

Many tune the Conga higher but you'll find the Tumbao really fat in the lower tunings.

  • very nice! what skins are you using?

  • good job boy

  • yeah he pretty much did a fast guaguanco beat in da middle ....but yeah dat was ok

  • Hey Derbeno, what's the thickness of your conga skins? Mine's got a very mellow sound cause its quite thick.. about 5mm.. what skins are yours please?

  • Please write this pattern out...Please write the left and right hand activity out. I can then work on the sound and try to duplicate. BUT please write the pattern out for all of us who have a hard time trying to follow

  • i think there's a little bit of guaguanco in the middle..

  • Hi^^

many people call tumbao simple, and it may be, but you can do great things with it, like you show here! timing is ok, and you have great ideas how to use ist, so keep doing it, ist cool!

  • Great job, bro'! I like the way you have the camera set so I can watch what you're doin' with your hands and learn from your example!

What kind of congas are you play'n here? They look like old Gon Bops, and the sound kicks ass, man!

  • wat drums are those ? quinto and tumba ?

  • Yes, the combination is as you described

  • kool i got the lp patato model congas all 3 of them plus the gio compact conga

  • i love your vids. thanks. i see johnnyconga at expert village using the quinto tumba combo for tumbao. is this your preference or are you drawing on some practice or tradition? do you always or mostly play without the conga? if so i'm curious how you came to this practice. it sounds great. the contrast between the drums is sharp and the overall sound is really nice.

  • Along with my instructor, your videos have been helping me learn, and refer back to patterns when I am home. Great work, and easy to follow. Is Mozambique next? *Cough* That's a hint! *Cough* lol.

  • WOW...super wOW..That was so Pro stuff. I hope you have a orchestra going. Im sure you will be hitting that CUERO. Rompe Cuero Conguero!
