  • is there any sort of IT industry there?

  • nice place. as a born and bred dunediner i have never though about living out the pensinulea (sorry can't spell). i miss st clair

  • Congrats on selling your house! It really looks like a beautiful place in a wonderful setting. I've long had a dream of moving to NZ, but I understand that its immigration policies are very restrictive (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I spent two months in NZ back in 1986, and loved every minute of it. It was a long way from California, but well worth the effort to get there. I thoroughly loved the Kiwis.

  • I could have got into NZ, but my wife would'nt leave England, wish I had left her behind and gone to paradise. why on earth would you want to leave that house?

  • I'd been in Dunedin for 6 years, and it was time to move on. Also, my family is too far away. If I can't share my house with my family, even such a special place does not feel like a home.

  • any offers?

  • Many offers.

  • YAY! Sold yet?

  • What a truly beautiful house! And a wonderful song to go with it! Your cat friends will miss it once its sold...Someone must've fallen in love with it by now...Good luck with your sale!

    Lotsa love from Kez X

  • oh wow this is a nice home....where abouts in dundedin is it??...waverley...portobello...area??

  • Hi. The house is on Ravensbourne road just before the Maia bus stop, opposite Portobello. It is high enough on the hill to get all day sun.

  • That would be equal to: $167,973.03 US

  • Thanks for that clarification, KasparHauser4.

Maybe the US dollar has continued to fall against the NZ dollar since I made this video. These were all just rounded figures, anyway.

    :)

  • How far is your home from Pukekohe? Please advise. thanks.

  • Hi robinmceleney,

I am sorry to say that Pukekoke is on the North Island and I am on the southern part of the South Island.

    Thanks for your interest,

    Sophie

  • nice home

  • does this house by any chnse come with a free pony ride?

  • its pretty awesome to see where you have been spending your time. beautiful!

  • Hi! Where have you been spending your time?

  • You don't know what cold is, you Kiwi whiner.

  • Way to stereotype. I just saiud that New Zealand never gets cold (at least nowhere near as cold as us) which is meteorological fact. You went and stereotyped a whole country. Not all of us live in big cities or can avoid going outside. Dumbass.

  • You seriously need to check those precious "meteorological facts" of yours, in the Maniototo region inland from Dunedin it got down to -25deg C last winter. So saying no-one in NZ even "knows what cold is" isn't stereotyping?!....so now who is the dumbass?

  • sifeholunn, rowsdowersavesus, break it up! No more name calling. Dunedin has not ever reached -25 Degrees C. I don't know about Maniototo, but the ocean keeps things pretty temperate here. The July lows are usually just above freezing. (3 c, 39 f) Some kiwis wear shorts and jandals all winter through, but I am not that ilk. This house has a heat pump and wood burning stove.

  • P.S. Are the boats noisy? :)

  • No. The boats are pretty quiet,

  • Compared to my snowy and cold part of Canada right now that looks like heaven. I am very tempted to drop everything going on here and flip my globe upside down. :)

  • This is an incredible time of year to be here. It stays light until 9:30-10 at night, right now. I feel very lucky to have gotten to live here for a while.

  • BOATS! Hahahaha.

Such a beautiful, beautiful house and location. If I could move in, I definitely would. I hope it goes to someone who appreciates it as much as it should be appreciated.

  • A beautiful song to accompany such a beautiful home and landscape. Is there any potential for a hopeful indie film maker in your neck of the woods? (Sigh) I need a glass of scotch now, or two, or three.

  • The song is beautiful, isn't it? That's an old one by my friend Gina Rocco. I'll let her know you like it.

And I'll have some scotch with you. A toast!

  • A toast then: to life and all it's beauty (and let's not forget peace). Cheers!

  • And yes, please tell your friend I liked her song very much. She's quite talented and I'd love to hear more from her sometime.

  • I'm going to play ping pong with her now. She'll be pleased to hear such a compliment.

(I return your toast to life, beauty, and peace with a toast to music, love, and friendship.)

  • If I buy the house, do I get Pinto and Doris?

  • We can negotiate on Doris, but Pinto is not on the bargaining table. ;)

  • I'm sure you have a good reason for leaving, I just can't imagine what it could be. That place is like paradise.

  • It's time for me to move on.

  • I love the house! This may be the first footage of a snowfoot in her natural habitat ;)

Hardwood floors, open spaces, jaw dropping views...near a pub. Thats Kiwi livin'!

I was just a curious tuber, but I hope you find your new nest is as good or better as your old one. Take care, Erik aka erkd1

  • If I had the cash (and the desire to live in New Zealand) I'd get it.

    I'm featuring it

  • Thanks!

  • Me too Ben. That's a nice chance and I've always dreamed to have some houses all over the world far from each other. I hope nobody gets till I make that money. :) Yeah, it's great. I wish I could!

  • It would be great, wouldn't it? I'd just toss my house into the collective, were it financially possible. The biggest problem I see with carrying out the fantasy of houses all over the world is that we'll hit peak oil soon, and flying around makes a big nasty carbon footprint on our planet. One of the reasons I am leaving is to be geographically closer to my family. This much travel is shameful gluttony.

  • What do you mean nobody gets till I get that money? Jealous eh, Jealosy is a sign of weakness. fix your self first

  • I'm just joking dude. Didn't you see the smile infront of what I've written?

  • What a fantastic place! If I could buy it, i would... specially to help out such a good person as you!

  • You're so kind. Many thanks.

  • Its beautiful, lush and green, water and mountains, like my neighbourhood without the 6-8 blocks to the beach.

BUT. I'm not moving to NZ. and I'm not rich, though maybe I'll make a wee gamble, follow Boucrate and a dream.

Though you know, even if I won the most beautiful thing about your house would be gone : (

    Good luck :D

  • You know, I just had a little fantasy about living here in a little commune with my internet friends. The kitchen is built to cook for the masses. It could work...

  • aww, yes communal living. It can be good.

  • We could have the best time with our commune Snowfeet! I love our commune idea!! Boys aren´t invited apart from the ones we like!!!

  • What about your Baby Daddy? Is he invited, or do we just raise the little love-child together sans the toxic influence of testosterone?

  • I want in on the commune! PWEEEZE?

  • You are totally in.

  • YAY! Thanks! :D So happy!

  • What a beautifull place.. Rudolph Steiner school close by.. Pub.. Bicycle path etc..I,m gonna take a loterie ticket today!.. and start a family?! :-)

  • I'd be honoured to pass the place on to someone like you. Good luck with that lottery ticket.

If your numbers don't come up, and I have to sell the place to someone else, then hopefully I'll see you in my travels somewhere down the road.
