  • I have aspergers and listening to music helps me out a lot. I am 27 and I listen to music pretty much the whole day through and have my whole life. I can't go anywhere without music and I listen to the same song over and over and over again.

  • Wow, I never thought of this, but this is a great idea! I love to sing, I sing when I am sad or upset. =) I am definetly going to try this music therapy thing! Thank you!!

  • I LOVE music therapy. I carry my mp3 everywhere. Music therapy is even better than regular therapy (even though my therapist is AMAZING) because you can be alone and you can cry without feeling stupid in front of someone.( I usually cry during my music therapies.)

  • I also can not block "background" noise, so any place will a lot of overlapping sounds bothers me.

  • And yes, music affects me emotionally more than anything else.

  • Indeed. I have done music therapy of this nature for years, though I did not know it was therapy. :-)

  • so what would happen if u didnt have ur earphones in and heard the bowls hitting each other or people chewing?

bty Aspergers amazes me. Tho it is hard ppl with are so intelligent I feel like a retard! I rly enjoyed the book House Rules by Jodi P. Its about an 18 year old with Aspergers.

  • I just listen for hours until I fall asleep from exhaustion.

  • I like your bracelets; I collect many of them! I am watching your video's, they are very interesting.

  • music therapy is not just listening to music, it also involves participation, improvisation, and non-verbal communication. A music therapist is a professional job that requires a degree in music therapy

  • you and i are actually a lot alike :)

i don't have AS but i do have another disorder that has some autistic similarities. I'm not sure what it's called but i am sesitive to sound as well .i was diagnosed this year, i demonstrate ocd but i'm not sure if i have it though, lol i know you dont like it when ppl say their autistic and their not dont worry im not saying that :)

I've got something that has some autistic traits but it isnt aspergers.

  • I "go mute" too when I get upset.

  • I do this at work. I listen to music in one ear and listen to people on the other. It helps ALOT.

  • I too find a new song I like every now and then, and can listen to it again and again for (too) long time. Sometimes I even repeat and rewind the best parts I like.

  • when my son listens to music in the car, the volume goes up to like 32 but he insists it be set on 19 and he usually starts at beginning of cd and listens till he gets to school then next day he picks up where he left off and hates when the cd has been changed or volume up/down
