No, I beleive Opossoms are related to marsupials. Things that carry babies in a pouch liek Kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils. Meerkats are relatives of Mongooses.

This has been my favorite video since the first time I watched it...so beautiful. Like many others who watch, I weep. The emotions of Flower's death are overwhelming and will always seem fresh & of course ~The Song~. So much in my life was meerkat involved...and now all of it is gone.
I am so glad I "remembered" this video from a few months again - and I still cry. Such wonderful memories in this video Oh- Dec 6th - Flower had litters 4 and 7 , I yr apart, 2003, 2004. Zaphod will be 11 years old on Dec 9th- We are all fortunate to have been able to get to know Flower and Zaphod- all the Whsikers. Oh please don't die on us Zaphod. You were there in the begginning, and we ned you till the end! Even Flower died... And ShakeSpear, Mitch went missing, all of our Meerkats are going and leaving, we all hope some of the Meerkats from the start will stay, survive till the end.. I know I hope so
Zaphod is actualy very old for a meekrat,. and very lucky to be so. He is KMP's oldest meerkat living as of right now and in the records of longest recorded living male. Mabilit was longest female and meerkat all together by 13 years.
but it's natural for groups to lose members like this. But not always forever nor entirly. Some have had offspring which will carry on some of them a little longer.
This is the most beautiful Flower tribute I've ever had the pleasure of watching. You should get an award for this Jax. It's so touching. God bless Flower.

This was very sad :( But this is Life. Every minute of every day a Mother dies for her child/children - be they Animal or Human Being. KMP is not funded by Animal Planet or Discovery Channel. they are a team form cambirdge university. the only time they ever put a meerkat to sleep is when i carried the deadly disease of TB, thus putting the animal out of its misery and getting ride of it so it dosn't spread to others. but they so NOT experament on these animals, just sit, watch and learn. Every now and then they take blood samples to learn family ties bu no harm comes to the animal and its later on relased to the family.
Over all, i think you, Delpoz1, need to go to the KMP site and read a little more about what your saying. i have a membership there and have talk to people who have gone and visited the meerkats. people just like you and me who would hate animals being harmed and they have reported none of this.

flower was always there for us i miss her so much i miss her one she moved like a true leader she new what to do every time something was wrong she helped one someone needed her i will always miss her and one i go in heaven i will be there for her no matter what happens i cant think how many tears came down my face one i saw our queen lay down and dident take one more step and one she died i had to cry my self to sleep and that was about at 5:00 a.m. i will never forget her love ya flower <333

I cried so very hard when lovely Flower died. It broke my heart and I didn't watch Meerkat Manor for a long time after. That's how much I missed her...and still do. Thanks for this lovely tribute to her. Well deserved as she was a brave little leader.

Oh my gosh, this song had tears streaming down all kinds. I love this song, and I love Meerkat Manor. It's been a long time since I watched Meerkat Manor steadily because I wanted to watch the episodes in proper order and I didn't know for a long time the next season had come out, now I've really lost my place! KMP is not funded by Animal Planet or Discovery Channel. they are a team form cambirdge university. the only time they ever put a meerkat to sleep is when i carried the deadly disease of TB, thus putting the animal out of its misery and getting ride of it so it dosn't spread to others. but they so NOT experament on these animals, just sit, watch and learn. Every now and then they take blood samples to learn family ties bu no harm comes to the animal and its later on relased to the family.

Meerkat Manor, the SHOW is not a study. its what you see on TV. These meerkats you see live in the KMP (Kalahari-Meerkat-Project) were they study meerkats and learn about their social groups. Yes i know they have flesh blood and feelings. do you take me as an idiot? its not pretend research. its a job, they are zooligists studing meerkats. Yes i know what it is but things die, thats life. its sad, but it happens. there is a diffrents between researchers and producers. The researchers care.

also...my mom walked in wen i was watching that episode and i was at the part wen she died and she said "what happened? go back" (i have the dish thing were u can go foreward and backward and pause and record and stuff) and when she saw and figurd it out she was so sad!!! she watches most of the meerkat manor episodes....she started crying a little *sniff*
