Ithink that dog fighting is all wrong, Michael Vick is really a nowbody that has been made famous by a sport. personaly i think he sucks. It,s your AMERICAN society that is to blame not the N.F.L. ANIMALS GET KILLED BY VEHICLES everyday so who do u blame for this the big three. ALL OF YA GROW UP!!!
hey tammyddb i got a great idea!! this would be hillarious!! wait till they toss mike the moron vick into jail, then send the tickets to mike the moron and his cell mate!! HAHAHAHA.............XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
how about you send me the tickets since my son hasnt been to an NFL football game and he and i would certainly have a good time, i meen the tickets are already paid for so the NFL doesnt care if you burn them, so you might as well send them to me and i will wear a i love animals t-shirt to the game, sounds like a good deal to me
I would use these tickets as a one of a kind piece of artwork that cannot be duplicated. Tammy's art can depict dog fighting and chaining and a boycotting of the NFL or she can partially burn tickets and use it in the art as a sacrificial offering to Vick's dogs and dogs like them that have been tortured and exploited for personal gain and sport.
This artwork can then be signed, auctioned off or sold as a one of kind Tammy Grimes and proceeds or partial proceeds can benefit DDB.
Yes! Good idea Jamey! But I would suggest the protesters be sneaky about it at first. Wait until you are in your seats and chained up before revealing your "Dogs Deserve Better" t-shirts and dog collars. It would suck to be kicked out before you get a chance to get some on-air coverage.
Oh, and lock those collars on! Make them work to get you out of there!
I'm pleased that everyone who has commented so far likes my idea of using the tickets to protest the NFLs lack of concern. freakyfish11 has some great ideas on just how to go about it. (I like the way freakyfish11 thinks... :)
By the way, if you need 'volunteers' for this protest operation let me know! (Maybe freakyfish11 would volunteer also?)
From Greytalk member Lizmego: Why don't groups contact their local NFL team and use this to their advantage? Ask them to donate 4 tickets or more so that they can use them to raise money for their group? Maybe NFL teams will give homegame tickets for fundraising purposes. I understand the principle, but how many dogs or cats are you going to save on principle alone? We need money to operate and I would guess that you could sell the tickets on ebay and get a pretty good chunk of cash.
From Greytalk member Midnight Mama: I don't feel that the tickets should go to waste. Consider donating the tickets to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Lots of seriously ill kids and their families spend an awful lot of time in Pittsburgh receiving medical treatment, and those tickets would certainly brighten up a dark time in some deserving family's life. Those tickets provide the perfect opportunity for a random act of kindness.
I like the idea of burning the tickets at the game OR chaining yourself to the seats. If someone did go they could wear Dogs Deserve Better merchandise and hand out flyers to help educate people to these atrocities... but whatever you do - be careful not to get arrested!
Obviously you cannot make money off the backs of these animals who were sacrificed by Vick and the NFL who has turned a blind eye to this type of obscenity. I would use the publicity that you can gain by burning those tickets right in front of the public, at the stadium, on the day of the game, to make your point! Ask for donations from those attending to help stop this kind of treatment of dogs by any one else who thinks it is OK to chain, torture, kill animals for their own pleasure.
I would suggest giving the tickets to 4 individuals who will go to the game and chain themselves to their seats to protest of the NFL's lack of serious action in the Vick case.
This is a toughie. I say shred them and then auction off the shredded strips with the proceeds to benefit DDBs efforts to work with other agencies and organizations related to the dog fighting issue. The "winner" of each strip can either choose to have you ceremoniously light the strips on fire (with one strip to benefit each dog killed at the Vick camp) or can choose to have the strip mailed to them to use as they see fit - as a momento, a conversation piece to raise awareness, to frame, etc.
