You can ask the same about the white family structure as well... Should we go into the school shootings, the suicide rate among whites, drugs among whites... All groups have problems, not just one.
There are single white females raising children also. I think a few major reason is one drug dealing is accepted by the police in black neighborhoods, the majority of liquior and gun stores are the black neighborhoods. Any thing bad resides in the black neighborhoods including the gang problem. I think that contributes more that single parent households. One question why on earth that in any city USA when you change from minority neighborhood to white neighborhoods they change the street names?
Of course every group has single mothers. Correct me if I'm wrong but the black community in America has a disproportionately higher rate of them, thus higher rates of poverty, incarceration, etc. We can blame racism til the cows come home but it still won't solve the problem of crumbled family structures. Neither will throwing more money at social programs, which simply subsidize continued poverty.
Throwing money at social programs is one thing. But how about just making life playing field even. I for one am darn proud to be black in America. You can ask the same about the white family structure as well... Should we go into the school shootings, the suicide rate among whites, drugs among whites... All groups have problems, not just one.

There are single white females raising children also. I think a few major reason is one drug dealing is accepted by the police in black neighborhoods, the majority of liquior and gun stores are the black neighborhoods. Any thing bad resides in the black neighborhoods including the gang problem. I think that contributes more that single parent households. One question why on earth that in any city USA when you change from minority neighborhood to white neighborhoods they change the street names?

Of course every group has single mothers. Correct me if I'm wrong but the black community in America has a disproportionately higher rate of them, thus higher rates of poverty, incarceration, etc. We can blame racism til the cows come home but it still won't solve the problem of crumbled family structures. Neither will throwing more money at social programs, which simply subsidize continued poverty.

Throwing money at social programs is one thing. But how about just making life playing field even. I for one am darn proud to be black in America. NO OTHER RACE HAS OVER COME SO MANY OBSTACLES THROWN INTO THEIR PATH. After all America even passed laws to hinder black America. Those obstacles are being breeched each and every day. Just give us more time. After all America has a bad habit of seeing only the bad few instead of the progress of the whole group. Just ask a cop.

Why don't you make the connection to economic deprivation which resulted in social ill-being causing broken homes and crime?

So does recognizing this historic ills negate any responsibility in the black community? That's my question. You can blame the man and use that as an excuse to continue a cycle of ignorance and family strife but that does nothing to help solve the problem. Victimology is a huge issue in lower class black communities. Assail those who are rightfully to blame for past injustices but make little to no effort to improve them.
