  • They should take the hole Nibiru thing and make a Manga about the new coming of Nibiru and Annuaki and how we fight them off.

  • I loved this show as a kid...,

But why did Yamato crash land when it could've assaulted the enemy from the air? Previous battle damage?

They shoulda launched Cosmo Tigers upon entry and rained wave from above.

Oh, well, no one sits around and talks about me, much, for good or bad, and my final answer is I love this cartoon. In fact, Battlestar Galactica, which I also love, had to be inspired by it!

    Peace!

    Cat.

  • @IllustratingCat Yamato always did that to the enemy alien empires(Gamilus, Comet, Dark Nebula). They needed some variety...

  • Blue Space Spaniards on robo-horses laser gun fighting Space Imperial Japanese on the deck of a retrofitted WWII-era space battleship?

    Silly? Yes.

    Nonsense? Very yes.

    Fuckin' awesome? FUCK YES!!

  • @nosorab3 The political statement in Yamato 2009 movie was far worse...

  • @Hesuku

    Why? What was it?

  • @nosorab3 Just stupid anti-American sentiment as usual, but worst as a Yamato series.

  • Yamota has always been such a strange series. Awesome space battles one minute, then they drag out goofy shit like aliens on robot horses. Still love it though. Oh, and while we're at it. Hey EDF, how about looking into combat armor for your crews?

  • What were they smoking? They landed on the planet of the Micronauts! It's the only explination for horses in space! If they ever dub this into english, they should get Kelsey Grammer to do the guy with the big forehead.

  • If the ship had Space Marines it would been an easy win.

  • The fighter scene in this looks so much like Star Wars.

  • So, the Gamilons/Galmans were American/German, the Bolars were Russian, and I guess from the music, the Dinguil are Spanish?

  • @Pathwolf here's the basic references: Gamilons: Germans/Nazis. Comet Empire: USSR (early cold war) Dark Empire: United states. Bolar: USSR (late cold war) Dinguil: Spanish comquistadors.

  • @Soundwave3591 I think Comet Empire is from the collective European superpowers. I had hard time identifying the Dark Empire. Each evil alien seems to contain the bad memories from Japan's war-time military government. It's really a mushed-up.

  • it does?

  • KILL THE CONTROL TOWER!! wait guns aint working... lemme guess MORE shields!

  • i neever seen this kind of star blazers befpre what year did this come out

  • The original theaterical - 1983. Revised TV broadcasting - 1984.

  • Ugh, why did they land?! Why didnt they shoot the warp emitters!?!? The captain has lost his stuff, where is the guy who kicked gamilon ass!?

  • The movements of the warrior robot horses are breath-taking!
