i am really at odds now adays about who controls who between the u.s. and israel .... obviously when you look at the way things are right now, it is meant to look like israel controls the u.s. since it does what it wants without bowing down to the "supposed wishes" of the u.s. ... so it's either that things are what they look like or the u.s. wants israel to act that way and wants the world to think that u.s. leaders have no power over decisions so that they can do what they want.. probably # 2

I should also add that I don't think any of these politicians are doing what they think is best for America, they are doing what they think is best for them, corporations, and their financiers. If they were looking out for Americans, we would have an infrastructure which rivals Hong Kong, free education, and free healthcare. I'd say its an open question. Norman in great, but the cause of the Iraq war is outside his area of scholarship and expertise. I think both Norman and the caller may be wrong. Norman on his culprits, caller on Israel's motivation. But Neocons involved with Israel like Perle and Wolfowitz seem to have been *very* involved with the Iraq war..long before Bush was even elected. I appreciate Mr. Finkelstein's blunt assessment of the u.s./israeli political quagmire in regards to the israeli occupation of palestine. although blunt assessment's dont seem to shake the iron fist in which the palestinian's are being held with by israel and i am sad to say in accordance with an inept u.s. middle east policy that hold's israel accountable for settlements it deems as natural growth. If the u.s. cannot form a coherent policy towards peace for the middle east what does this say?
