Yes, Wakeman learned by example from Bowie not to play crappy, cliche rock 'n' roll music, and he didn't (unlike Bowie, who should have learned from Wakeman).
This is on DVD now,and has been on "CD" for years.this is from the mid "70's" "75" as i recall. there is also a "DVD and CD" for "Journey to the Center of the Earth" "74".
First couple of minutes sound to me a bit like taken from Jesus Christ Superstar... LOL. This music is great, I don't care if it's 'pompous'! Many, narrow minded, critics use all this 'skating extravaganza' to dismiss progrock. Unfort. Wakeman himself often puts it down...
most of this song is not the last battle it is sir galahad. I can't believe they didn't have the speech about what happened to king arthur, I love that speech.
Actually it hits the lyrics for last battle at about 2:50 and all the lyrics from that point are Last Battle.
I can't remember the original well enough to be sure there's not other strands mixed into the music, but for sure Last Battle always did do a sort of quick bringing togther/recap of most of the themes of the rest of the Myths & Legends tracks.
Thanks SO much for posting this! I was raised on this album, I spent all my youth listening to it and reading along in the booket with the LP. and now I can see/hear it live....[2]
This album is so lovely. It was made years before i was born. My mother had the LP and one day i found it while sticking my curious nose in some old box. I loved it. Well, actually the first record i found was ¨Journey to the Centre of the earth¨. This kind of thing helped me develope a deeper relationship with music. Besides, i´m from Venezuela, probably not very likely to know Rick Wakeman at my age, this was a great coincidence. By the way, thanks for posting the video.
this is my fast albam which I bought. it was when I was 13or14yo.and I saw this show on the TV.I was so exited at that time.and my mother also loves this albam .
Don't give up hope if you're planning on visiting the UK. He did a tour about 2, 3 years ago ... Promoting his then new Album and swearing he needed the money to sustain all his alimony payments - Reckon old Rick's had as many wives as Henry 8th ;-)

Thanks for posting this. I've been waiting a long time to see it. Was it ever released in the cinema? Having seen it I'm not surprised it's not on video as some of the timing's quite out and it seems like either Rick's completely drunk or his monitors aren't very good or both! The Australian performance is definitely tighter.
The video that I has acquired does not have the performance of "Merlin The magician"
Idont know if in this day he performed it ... because in the first part of the show he performed some parts of "Journey ..." , "Six Wives" and "Lizstomania"

Hey, it was the 70's. Even Wakeman's idea'rs seem good when you're as coked-up as the producers obviously were.
